Re: Lairig Ghru to Aviemore

That looks like the route we were hoping to take. Thanks a lot!

Lairig Ghru to Aviemore

Hi there, Some advice needed on how to finish our walk to Aviemore. On our way North out of the Lairig Ghru there are a few options for getting to Aviemore, the obvious one being direct via the Cairngorm Club Footbridge. Can anyone tell me if this bridge is in place and is it the best way through Ro...

Mullach Coire Mhic Fhearchair East Tops

I've read a bit online here and there that the furthest of these tops, Sgurr Dubh, involves some exposed scrambling. With it being so remote I thought I'd ask the question: who's done it and what is it like. The photos I've seen make it look ok, but just wondering.

Re: Ben Macdui Conditions

I got a really good view of it yesterday from Sgor Mor, lots of snow still about, and that's on the Southern Slopes. On the Northern slopes there'll be more of course.

Re: Sgor, Sgorr or Sgurr

It becomes even more weird when people who have no understanding of Gaelic names try to turn them into English. For example I've heard the Aonach Eagach of Glen Coe being called the Aonach Eagach Ridge - which if translated fully into English would, I believe be The Notched Ridge Ridge. To me that'...

Re: Ben Klibreck

When we did it we left the road at the bridge South of Vagistie and straight up to Cnoc Sgriodain. Wasn't too much bog and you were starting to climb straight away. Is this not the normal route?

Re: Too many maps?!

What's with the 007 nonsense, just say why you want them  it might even illicit a greater response. Hey Chris, sorry pal, wasn't trying to trick anyone with 007 nonsense. As it is I got most of what I needed from a local friend of mine and the rest I just bought. Cheers for your help folks, A...

Re: Too many maps?!

I have received one map from a very generous Walkhighlander, Landranger 43. This is a massive help but if anyone else has a spare 35, 36, 37, 42, 44, 51, 52 or 53 I'd be very grateful. Like I said it's not for personal use and will go to helping a worthwhile cause.

Thanks loads, Andy

Backpacker wrote:I'll have a look when I get home, I think we've more than a couple doubled up.

Are you looking for any specific areas?

Thanks Backpacker, that'd be excellent. Anything that covers Clova, Glenshee, Beinn a Ghlo or Loch Tay areas would be great. Appreciated :-)

Too many maps?!

Ok I'll get straight to the point: this is a begging post!! I'm looking for people with too many or doubled up on maps of Tayside and Perthshire, preferably 50k. I promise it's not for me to sell, or use myself, but it is for a very worthy cause! If you can help and have old or unused maps which you...

Re: Here we go again

I don't see the problem. Munro was aiming to list all the tops above 3000ft. These guys are just carrying that exercise on. Agree 100%. Those of us working through lists, no matter how obscure are bound by the specifics of the list. Why wouldn't you want the list to be as accurate as possible? But ...
