Re: Wainwright Book

The Fell & rock guide by June parker "The Lakeland Fells" is very good. It is out of print, but WOB have one in very good condition for £3.49. But really you should get them the SMT guide to The Corbetts. After all these well trod Munros what they really need is the chance to wander o...

Wainwright Book

Hi, I'm looking for a gift for a friend who's compleating his Munros soon and wanted to get him a book on the Wainwrights. I want to avoid the pictorial guides for something a bit more.....slimline (and therefore cheaper!). I had a quick Google and seems there's a good bit of choice, but is there on...

Sgurr Mor Linkup

Hi all, my friend who's finishing his Munros and me who's starting his Corbetts are in Glen Dessery next week and we've come to a compromise to climb Sgurr a Fhuarain (C) and Sgurr Mor (M). I was looking at the map and wondered about the possibility of carrying on West along the ridge to An Egg (or ...

Re: Meanach Bothy

For those that care, I settled on a trip to the Hutchison Hut and still had a knee-high, boots and socks off, crossing of the Glas Allt Mor! However, it had receded by the next day. Seven people crammed into the bothy and one outside in a tent made for a very cosy night!! But a lovely sunrise to wak...

Re: Meanach Bothy

Hi all, thanks for the replies, I think I'll save this one for the summer and visit one I'm less likely to be knocked back on! Cheers for your help, appreciated as always!

Meanach Bothy

Hi all, I'm thinking of a trip to Meanach Bothy this weekend from Kinlochleven. Going in this way will involve a river crossing over the Abhainn Rath near the end of the walk-in. Any advice for this crossing, doable in Winter etc? Many thanks.

Creel Hill

Does anyone know if access to Creel Hill, near Castle Douglas, is still restricted? I've read that Arwen felled a lot of trees at the site, but that was back in April. Any updated info would be appreciated. Thanks 👍

Re: Tips for a Corbett Bagger!

This is all really great advice, thanks so much for adding to the thread. I wonder if there was a general consensus for the 1) Most technically challenging Corbett & 2) Most remote Corbett; assuming that the Munro equivalents would be Inaccessible Pinnacle and A'Mhaighdean (arguably) respective...

Re: Tips for a Corbett Bagger!

With regards to doing my Grahams at the same time, I think I'm still in denial about doing this list........just as I was when I set out on my Munros! Seems like such a long way away, will I really want to start them when/if I finish my Corbetts?! And do I already know the answer to this quest...

Re: Tips for a Corbett Bagger!

This is a local knowledge tip I picked up in Sutherland. On pathless Corbetts, stick to recognised routes (eg SMC guide) during the stalking season. Even better if you get the OK from estates, of course. That's very good advice, I really got out of the habit of checking stalking on Munros routes. M...

Tips for a Corbett Bagger!

Hi there, when I started hillwalking 13 years ago there are a few things I wish I'd listened to: "Don't leave the far away Munros 'til last" & "Do your Corbetts at the same time as your Munros!" Now that I've accepted my fate and I'm going to start my Corbetts properly, what ...
