Re: Record attempt: Slowest compleation, 14349 days and coun

Quite depressing that I may have the record of the slowest round when I finish them despite being probably the quickest up a mountain
I blame the distance I have to travel to get to one!

Re: Dog Hill Etiquette.

Just be a responsible dog owner and you'll be fine. Keep the dog on a lead around livestock. Stick to the paths where required etc. Taking dog mess off the hills is a bit more subjective. I'd suggest us humans don't do what's good for them i.e bury it. Humans cause a lot more harm to the hills so do...

Re: Advice for bagging all the Munros in a single go.

I’ve not been on the site much of late. This thread is a horrible read to be honest.
Rest in Peace Patrick. Sincere condolences to all his family and friends.

Re: In Pinn

I did the Inn Pinn with West Coast Mountain Guides Ken and his colleague who I unfortunately forget his name. Both top lads. Be prepared to keep up the pace they set!

Re: How has hillwalking changed?

The hills are a lot busier than they once were. I guess it's a safer pastime these days with the introduction of GPS, mobile phones and Goretex to name but a few.
The weather's just as wet and windy.

Re: Eyeing up those grade 5 walks

Ring of Steall is a fabulous walk. I did it with my lab in tow. Just do it on a decent day weather wise would be my advice

Re: Kintail

From your total of 21, l assume you will do the 5 north of the Cluanie on the north side, after Ciste Dubh (assuming you do the SSR from East to West). If so, the doing the sisters then the brothers from West to East does leave a long time without water (if you don't drop down.100m) to resupply. I ...

Re: Kintail

I don't think water is all that big a deal. Plenty folk carry enough to do those as 3 single day walks so just fill up in the morning and where you can on the ridge. I'd be tempted to do 7 on day two and add Ciste Dubh onto the end of the Brothers or highish camp under An Cnapach. No point descendi...

Re: Kintail

My partner ran them all bar The Saddle (she got hungry) in a day. In two days; I’d stay at the Shiel campsite, leaving my tent up. Drive up to the Clunie and day one walk one side back to your tent, day two do the other side back to your car. Then drive back to collect your camping stuff. That way ...

Re: Kintail

Much appreciated WWW. It certainly looks like a lot of effort but my time up north is very limited these days so have to try and optimise my trips north.

Re: Kintail

Thank you WWW. That’s exactly the kind of insights I was looking for. I must admit water I hadn’t given a great consideration to other than having a camelback in my rucksack. Fitness wise I’m happy to walk over twenty miles on consecutive days. Just not sure how much height loss and gain there would...

Kintail

Looking for some thoughts of my fellow walkers and climbers. Looking at doing the 21 Munros either side of the A87 in Kintail. I thought I’d do the south ridge walk plus the other two the first day and then take 6 each day on the north side of the A87 working my way back east. I’d be wild camping so...

Re: Preferred way to navigate on trail?

It’s not something I usually have to use to be honest. I normally will have a read through the route on this site. I take a map and compass with me but generally find there is no need to use them. I have a good sense of direction, went awry a couple of times but fit enough to get myself out of whate...
