Slabs of Cheesecake

Having had a couple of rainy days in Skye, we were back on the mainland today. This was a better day for this one (winds were too strong last week so we'd soon turned back). Still a long cycle/push both ways, but the track has been improved since our last round on this pair. Today we were adding the...

WH mini meet

After our big ridge-day yesterday we might have had a wee rest... except a few of our pals were in the area! We'd bumped in to Tinman on Sgurr Dearg yesterday, got passed by a few on the road walk out, then saw a few others near today's summit too. This was clearly a Skye weekend 8) $ma...

Skye Ridge - pinned it again!

Half way through our holiday, and we were on to the biggy! Derek had given us a nudge earlier in the week to see if we'd be up for doing this route again. It hadn't been on our radar, as we've mainly been focusing on new Munro Tops, but we didn't need asking twice. And what a day we had! 8) :D $matc...

Warming up on Skye

Knowing we were going for a big day on the main ridge tomorrow, we wanted to get a bit of scramble practice in; it had been 4 years since we were last up there! We'd already done Am Basteir for our 3rd round, but we still needed one of its Tops for our collection - so this was a natural loop...

Broadford Deargs

For the second day in a row, we had to quickly make a Plan B! Our first thought was to go for the southern main ridge taking in Alasdair's Tops... but when we woke in Glenbrittle, we could barely see the base of the hills. Even taking our time with breakfast and getting ready, the clouds sti...

A shorter wind Breac

We started cycling from Attadale, going for Lurg Mhor, but turned back at the first building! We weren't going anywhere fast in that headwind  Instead, we drove up the road and went for this Graham. We'd already done Beinn na Feusaige a few years back, so this seemed a good shorter-day altern...

Fhada - steep as well as long

In a loop from Morvich, we were going for the Munro Top as our primary aim so went for that first. We walked along the Affric-Kintail Way to Glenlicht House then took a fairly direct line up. Fairly slow going, and we were over-dressed today - it was really hot!  Ended up just doing t...

Chaise-ing the best weather

Off for a fortnight now, but the forecast wasn't great anywhere really. So we started with a local day trip in the afternoon... and got a soaking when the forecast rain came in early

A hoor of a day!

[Title re our middle Munro - Scoob's favourite sounding hill name, sgoor a-choor-achain  ] Almost 6 years since we were out on these 3 Munros with Bod & Val; we cycled/pushed in the first ~5km this time though. Sometimes a struggle on the way up, but much relief on the way down :D Today we ...

Re: East Fisherfield: old ground and new

Great photos and video but depressing that you got that verbal abuse. Thanks! Hopefully it was just a one-off :) That's a fab trip Fi - cracking photos. I'm impressed with your restraint at the miserable individual. I tend to be less diplomatic in such scenarios  Thanks JP! My instinct might n...

Ben Chonzie: next gen baggers

We were camping with family at Comrie Croft this weekend, with some of them keen to climb their first Munro... so we obliged :D This is the busiest we've seen this hill - we used the overflow parking in the field. The summit was clear too, with the weather better than forecast  I think we'v...

Re: East Fisherfield: old ground and new

Top quality report and video. Brought back some good memories of when we camped at the south end of Loch an nid below the slabs. A fantastic spot & great hills. A shame about the rude shouty person - you did well by not engaging with them. All the best :D Thanks ST - it's up there with our favo...

Boggy Foggy on a clear day

I had a clear summit on my first visit, but Scoob had only been here in cloud and rain before. So when we woke up, thinking we'd just be heading home today, we soon changed our minds and went for this 'quicky' to add to our round 3. :D 8) Scoob's video  $matches[2] $matches[2] $matches[2] $mat...

East Fisherfield: old ground and new

A wonderful day for going back in to the Fisherfields on our third round, this time from the Fannaichs car park, and including a couple of Munro Tops. We thought about adding in Beinn Tarsuinn too but left that for another day. Highlights : weather, views, scramble over Sgurr Dubh again, a new Top f...

On the edge of Affric

Alarm-free morning after our big day in Mullardoch yesterday, so this was more of a leisurely stroll - what a day for it! 8) :D
