Re: Second Munro Round - Cheating or not cheating??

You could walk backwards and forwards all day claiming a Munro summit by dropping 10m and see how "rounds"you could start in a day. It should be obvious that this would be absurd. Have I completed two marathons if I run to the finish, turn back for 100 meters, then go through the finish l...

Re: Second Munro Round - Cheating or not cheating??

You could walk backwards and forwards all day claiming a Munro summit by dropping 10m and see how "rounds"you could start in a day. Been up Ben Lomond about 30 times would I claim a starting point of 30 Munro rounds,no just seems wrong to me. After 20 odd years i think one round will be en...

Re: 1-man tent and sleeping bag recommendations

al78 it would be interesting to know also what clothing etc. you would take for a 2,3 or 4 day hike, for myself when doing multiday hikes I normally take one set of clothing for a change at night and one set to wear during the day.

Re: Carn nan Gabhar - cycle in?

Alternative route would be Glen Tilt to do CnG. Cycle to bridge at NN 956 762 cross bridge dump bike at trees cross bridge over the Allt Fheanach and take the old stalkers path(hard to see close up but from path in Glen Tilt you should be able to see it) this leads to Meall a' Mhuirich and the ridge...

Re: Paul Tattersall

I have used Paul a couple of times,a really nice easy guy to get on with. Nothing is too much of a problem, the thing I liked about him was he pushed me outside my comfort zone but still made me feel safe. A little thing about Paul is he took a bike to all the Munro summits about 25 years ago,he didn...

Re: Beinn a' Ghlo and the wrong way down

If your heading to Bridge of Tilt another way of going would be to do the top Airgiod Bheinn first then Carn nan Ghabhar and then follow the ridge down to Meall a'Mhuirich good going path, then head down to roughly NN964 720 to pick up the old stalkers path which leads to bridge and Glen Tilt.

Re: Gillean...Bastier...Bruach na Frithe

Used Paul a few times and what a great guide, pushed me out my comfort zone on a really foul day on Sgurr Alasdair.
It's good when it all comes together.

Re: Arran walk / Brodick - Glen Rosa - Goatfell - Brodick

Going from Goatfell to Cir Mhor is easier on ascent rather than the other way about as coming off Cir Mhor route finding is not obvious. Even in ascent it is easy to stray onto harder variations in poor visibility. Don't ask me how I know this! Don't even ask me either been there and done it.

Re: Arran walk / Brodick - Glen Rosa - Goatfell - Brodick

Your circular walk would be between 7/10hrs depending on your speed. Going from Goatfell to Cir Mhor is easier on ascent rather than the other way about as coming off Cir Mhor route finding is not obvious. As for your dog only you will know your dogs capabilities. Picture shows the rough route up/do...
