The Mullardoch Redemption

FOREWORD : Just to underline how much this hill has it in for me, I had almost finished this report about a week ago but when I hit the Save Draft button, my laptop crashed and I somehow lost much of what I had written. Life then got really busy for a week or so before I could go back and rewrite i...

Re: If at first you don’t succeed, fail and fail again

"Hasta la vista baby!" as one famous Austrian also said! My own report will be forthcoming in the next few days I hope!

Re: The Saddle

Excellent pictures! I was on An Riabhachan that same day in glorious winter conditions and was planning on doing this route the following day but dropped the idea on account of the Sunday forecast not looking too clever and being stone cold gubbed after my day from the Mullardoch dam.

Re: Unpleasant little Fiona destroyed my phone

The title of this report sounds like an allegation one of my S2s might make against a classmate!    I actually enjoyed this one but then I got the decent weather and views from the summit that you didn't get, and it didn't destroy my phone or any other piece of kit for that matt...

Re: Beinn i'Gloo

I can think of many times where an igloo at the top of a mountain would have been very welcome indeed!

Re: The Great Stone Chute to Sgúrr Alasdair (in sandals)

There had been another London interlude, 3 months of despair on the Central Line, so I quit and went to Edinburgh. It was pure elation to cross the border: bleak weather, Wheaton’s friend Forsyth in from the States with a pair of Chaco sandals and a bag of apples he found on the street, Wheaton him...

Re: A Walk of Three Thirds

I've been enjoying reading about your recent ramblings in this neck of the woods as a wee warm up for bigger routes through the summer months. I've had Hunt Hill on my radar as one to do this spring but never got round to it yet. Quite keen to check that wee bothy out too.

Re: Seeking the perfect Winters day on Ladhar Bheinn

Kevsbald and I are planning on doing this route in a couple of weeks. Friday night camp before setting off though and Saturday overnight at Barrisdale though. None of this mental in and out in one go business! I can only hope we get similar conditions. Fantastic report. Has utterly made my ...

Re: The silliest sign you've seen on a walk?

I once saw a wonderful sign in a gift shop in England that read "The beatings will continue until morale improves!" I was seriously tempted to buy it and put it on the wall above my desk at work but may have run into a spot of trouble with senior management if I had done so!

Re: Carn Dearg then repeat - Glen Roy

It certainly takes a particular kind of mindset and mentality to fully appreciate this pair of wonderfully imaginatively named hills! Looks like you got the routine, grim experience, much like myself!

As is this one warning of ice near the Garganta Verde gorge walk in Andalusia last summer. It was 45 degrees that day!
