Re: Madeira: Pico Ruivo

Hi great description and pics. I was looking at the Exodus walking trip to Madeira but it gets poor reviews mainly because of substandard accommodation and they rely too much on public transport which is very limiting if the day doesn't go to plan. How did you get around the island and to the trailh...

Re: Slioch the fun way: inversion on the west ridge

Chris I have a suspicion that scobb999 report started the climb at the correct point https://www.walkhighlands.co.uk/Forum/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=68116 Cairngorm creeper also tackled this route https://www.walkhighlands.co.uk/Forum/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=72947 Both reports look exposed but I susp...

Clinging to the Kirk Fell Crags!

Driving up the Wasdale road and arriving at the car park it seemed as if half the outdoor world had descended on Wasdale Head. But who could blame them on such a beautiful August day after lockdown. I had previously hiked the Mosedale Round and baled off at Black Sail pass so today Glenys and I star...

Re: Sierra Nevada

Hi. The public transport in this area is good but mainly centred on Granada. There is not really a central bus station but various termini from where the buses operate. I think there are services beyond Guejar Sierra and Trevelez to the ski resorts.

Stravaiging around Wasdale Head

Drove in via Nether Wasdale past the attractive looking Strand Inn and and parked up at Overbeck Bridge. Headed up the obvious track which was steep going up Yewbarrow. Height gained quickly with extensive views over Wast Water. Bell Rib and the Great Door loomed above appearing to assert their pres...

Re: Moel Siabod disappoints

Hi HalfManHalfTitanium. I completely agree with your sentiments about enjoying the hills for what they are and resisting the temptation to rank them but given the large variation in mountain form and disposition, the latter is just human nature. My mountaineering achievements are not comparable to y...

Tenerife Tribute

This was a mixed activity trip from 16 - 28 December involving trekking and spending Christmas with the family in Costa Adeje/Las Americas. We were based in Los Menores above the TF-1 away from the trash and tackiness of the coastal resorts which allowed easier access to the caldera and the mountain...
