First time bivvy , any tips please ?

Hi,
finally ditching the tent and planning an overnight bivvy up in Fisherfield this weekend .
Have got the gear , but moving out the comfort zone from being under the canvas .
Any tips or hints about ensuring things run smooth?
Cheers :D

Re: Mullardoch 12 over 2 days

But aye, enjoy the Mullardoch round. Your midge stories bring back horrendous and almost-forgotten memories of the wee buggers. I can tell every word is true; they are that bad. My first time at the Mullardoch dam was pretty much identical, except we didn't get out the car whatsoever and had a real...

Here is my trip report from a few years ago from another site. http://www.scottishhills.com/html/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=15637 Wow , what a terrific report .I missed this one from the Mullardoch reports . And you did it ' the hard way' with a walk in from Cluanie . Some amo...

Re: Mullardoch 12 over 2 days

Pray to a deity of your choice for wind. That is, without a doubt, the midgiest place on earth. In August 2017, my partner and I had plans for a two-day Mullardoch round and set up a tent by the dam the night before. It was windy when we set up the tent and had dinner, so all seemed copacetic. Some...

Re: Mullardoch 12 over 2 days

There’s a spring at the bottom of the south ridge of Beinn Fionnlaidh on the left as you look south. Also there are a few burns not marked on the map on the west face of Carn Eighe. Both of these still had water last year in the warm weather. Excellent tips and noted and marked up on my map. Apprec...

Re: Mullardoch 12 over 2 days

I certainly found that water was an issue, but I don't think I'd paid sufficient attention to where I might find it before I set off. I've subsequently read various reports where folk have managed to locate water pretty high up (if I remember correctly, reports by Weaselmaster - which is a gem wort...

Has anyone else done this one ? All tips and advice , particularly water sources along the route , would...

Re: Gairich to Sgurr Mor

Like Rockhopper I did part of this last year. The paths/route is very straightforward. https://www.walkhighlands.co.uk/Forum/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=80770 Others have ascended Gairich from the Loch Quoich side, so you could check out their reports to get you to the top of Gairich. Thanks for your h...

Re: Gairich to Sgurr Mor

Hi Mountaintrail, I did these 2 together in October 2015 with my 2 dogs. I camped over after dropping off Gairich at the Allt a`Choire Ghlais. My trip report on my walks blog is basic - due to my love /hate relationship with all things"it" . However the map route I put on is accurate. I s...

Is this of any use ? Part of route from Gairich to Sgurr na Ciche ? https://www.walkhighlands.co.uk/Forum/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=33834 Stopped for a while before retracing my steps back down to the base of Gairich Beag. Original plan was to pick up the SE ridge to the Corbett but instead I headed ...

Re: Gairich to Sgurr Mor

Looking at the map, it's definitely doable. Consider adding Sgurr Mor to the Sgurr na Ciche 3 (if you haven't already done them) as it's a fantastic high level ridge walk. Long day mind you. Hi , did the Na Ciche 3 last year and decided against doing Sgurr Mor at the time . no regrets though , a re...
