Re: Carnivorous plants in October?

https://plantatlas2020.org/atlas/2cd4p9h.p02 This from the excellent 2020 BSBI Plant Atlas gives the phenology (appearance dates) of Butterwort: suggests that flowers will be well over by October, leaves pretty much done by end of September. Similar for Sundew although maybe slightly greater chance ...

Mam Sodhail bike?

Could anyone say please if it's feasible to reach Mam Sodhail (+neighbours) partially by bike? I'm looking particularly at the track from Affric towards Coire Leachavie which looks like it could be bikeable?

Re: What's your oldest piece of kit?

Andre Jamet tent from the 1960s. Suffered a bit from mice but useable. Also a Blacks down sleeping bag from 1974, still excellent. :D

Re: Fisherfield question

I did Sgurr Ban, Fhearchair and Tarsuinn from Loch a Bhraoin; a'Mhaighdean and RSM from Poolewe on a different day. These are both long but brilliant routes in my opinion, especially the first - saw lots of wildlife including Divers (birds) on the loch and you can go up the amazing 'waterslide' on t...

Re: Ben Lui & Beinn a Chleibh - 2nd attempt

Very interesting report thanks. I think the plant in 030 may be Small White Orchid (Pseudorchis) - a great find if so as it's quite rare. 051 looks like Starry Saxifrage and 105 Bugle.

Re: Favourite/ least favourite mountain

Best - out of many candidates I say Geal-Charn (Alder range). Hard to reach (I did it from Corrour), unspectacular but unpretentious, just massively present, it is what it is. Lovely ridge walk from Aonach Beag if you go that way. Beautiful alpine flowers by the stream I used for descent, it's one o...

Re: Glas Tulaichean & Carn an Righ, Spittal of Glenshee

A reasonable option I found was to bike from Dalmunzie Hotel up the track on east side of the river, leaving the bike at a suitable spot beneath GT, climbing it straight up the side. Then across to Carn an Righ, back to Loch nan Eun and down the river back to the bike. Only real problem was crossing...
