Re: Pasture Beck Skyline

And yet another great report Anthony  with the usual excellent photos taken on an equally excellent day 8) Both of those fells are killers either up or down :? but nevertheless enjoyable to walk them:)

Re: A circular walk around Dodd via Benny Crag and Doups.

Autumnal Lakeland at it's best there TM, looks a nice way to appreciate all the different colours at this time of the year, we must get up there soon or we'll miss it  I had to look twice at the first photo, that little Sycamore sapling in the foreground looks a bit like a bunch of Daffodils ...

Re: A circular walk around Dodd via Benny Crag and Doups.

Wow those autumn colours are just amazing, even the bracken looks good at this time of year. I've not visited this area since I was a kid and keep meaning to go back. I only have a vague recollection of reaching the summit of Dodd, so I need to climb it again just to make sure I really have climbed...

Re: Caudale Moor via Rough Edge Quarries.

I was sitting at Cauldale Head having lunch on a walk this summer thinking the route up that ridge might prove to be quite nice, makes sense to combine it with St. Ravens Edge which I've yet to visit. Excellent and informative report as ever TM. Thanks for your comments Anthony, they're always appr...

A circular walk around Dodd via Benny Crag and Doups.

A walk through Dodd woods route.gpx Today’s plan was to get Ann up onto Rosthwaite Fell to cross another one off in the Southern Fells Book but with the weather once again dealing the cards and coming up with a so-so hand with strong winds a route was cobbled up, one that would take us on one or tw...

Re: Caudale Moor via Rough Edge Quarries.

It's an interesting route that most Wainwright baggers (including myself) will avoid since it misses the opportunity to include Hartsop Dodd. I had no idea those mines were even there. The advantage of reclimbing these mountains after completing the main list means you can discover places like this...

Re: Caudale Moor via Rough Edge Quarries.

Great TR, lovely photos - thanks for posting. We did this route as a descent once, a beautiful view ahead all the way down, but the pull of the pub meant we just whizzed past the quarries. A revisit is in order! Tim Thanks for your comments Tim :D and a lot easier going down than up, though can be ...

Caudale Moor via Rough Edge Quarries.

Caudale Moor via Rough Edge.gpx I had been down this ridge in the past but now in an attempt to regain hill fitness thought that I might like to go up it as a bit of a challenge to the old legs and lungs and have a poke about in the old slate quarry whilst I was at it. As Chris had contacted me abo...

Re: Helicopter rescue at Gimmer Crag

A great report dav and a fine day for climbing  just a shame it was marred by the unfortunate accident and can only hope that the young lady is going to be alright with no long standing problems :(

Hart Side from High Cascades Car Park.

Hart Side route.gpx It was Tuesday morning as we drove under a miserable grey sky to the National Trust High Cascades Car Park that is a short distance south of the village of Dockray, a car park that was occupied by only a couple of other cars in contrast to the dozens that are usually parked up b...

Re: A climb into Wandhope's Addacomb Hole.

Looks to be a good place to get away from it all in the Lakes, can't think it's too popular. At the moment however I'm not sure fitness levels are really what they could be so one for the future. It's a really great spot for some peace and quiet JK and as you could guess, not often frequented. Our ...

Re: Picking up Splinters around Scandale

Good report and pics there JK as ever  and a great weather day for it also. Hughie looks quite laid back and unfazed by the distance and height gain :) 8) . I did a similar route to you on an equally hot day but I started at Cow Bridge and did anti-clockwise climbing up to Red Screes via the r...

Re: Ups and downs on the fells above Swindale.

Another good day on the outliers martin.h despite the crappy weather  The ground can be a bit rough in that neck of the woods and I've spent quite a bit of time roaming those hills and there are quite a few paths and tracks about if familiar with the terrain. The area around Mosedale is not a ...

Re: A climb into Wandhope's Addacomb Hole.

What an interesting little trip TM. Addacomb Hole looks fascinating and to make that the destination of a walk is really thinking outside the box! I remember, not so long ago, looking across at the south face of Crag Hill from Wandope and thinking there might be a good scrambling route up there, th...
