Re: OS Map Subscriptions - gps recommendations please!

I usually use the print off thing for day routes but have seen some people mention on this thread something about adding the GPX file to a devise, I assume and hope that they can take it with them, shows the route on a map and does not need internet connection. my question is, if its possible to hav...

Re: Been walking? No trip report but want to share some Phot

two great days in skye again - one with strong winds and hail stones, the other with clearish skies. https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7570/16194751512_3d463766ef_c.jpg _MG_0256s by paulcarpenter2610 , on Flickr https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7537/16008009638_049a8e72e0_c.jpg _MG_0350s by paulcarpenter...

Re: a few from lossie woods

this particular place in lossie woods is public, unfortunately due to damage to feeding stations the people who run it are stopping now - but I will still be going and take food with me. Saw loads of the crested tit's today but try as I might, could'nt get one in flight.... The light here isn't too ...

a few from lossie woods

Used to be really left at a loose end during bad weather in the hills.....until I discovered two local hides. https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7557/15309086744_738e1a1fc8_c.jpg _MG_4049 by paulcarpenter2610 , on Flickr https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7572/15945982895_64f96bcdcb_c.jpg _MG_4462s by paulc...

western birds

spent a few days on and off over on the west coast during what could be regarded as the best shorts and sun burn weather all year. Great hiking weather but terrible for landscape photo's, due to the haze etc and plus which, where as my wife regarded the trips as escapism from teens, it was for me a ...

a surprising forest walk

I don't tend to write about every nook and cranny I walk, but this woodland walk, was to say the least, a pleasant surprise, least of all because I got lost in there..... This walk or this wood is in no books or website as a walkers place, my curiosity in it was only brought about because of the roa...

Re: nights are for walking....not sleeping 3 - Beinn liath m

couple of reason really; I started doing early mornings a couple of winters ago when sunrise was or is much later in the day and I guess I just carried on following sunrise for my aim of catching its colors as I have had a few successes - a real magical time. The other reason is simply because their...

that makes a change annieMacD, usually as I go down the cloud clears.....but there was quite a bit of it hanging all around when I was their - I guess atleast you got a better well defined look at the southern torridon slopes.

wick away moisture base/t shirt layer? loose fitting.

I've got a couple of those tight fitting wick away tops (long sleeves) , what I'd like is a top that's loose fitting, similar to a t-shirt, but still wicks away moisture - is their such a thing?

cheers

nights are for walking....not sleeping 3 - Beinn liath mhor

Always amazes me the accuracy of the weather reports. As I drove towards my destination various signs warning of heavy rain forecasted did make me wonder if I would see any thing except big fat rivers of water running off my waterproof's. To my amazement, the report was dead on the button and I even...

nights are for walking....not sleeping 2 - loch avon

Objective - sunrise from the slopes above Loch Avon looking towards the shelter cave and the black rock above it - from an idea or hope that during the 3 or 4 days either side of the solstice, the sun rises directly opposite the head of loch Avon and thus may light its slopes up. I don't know if wal...

Re: nights are for walking, NOT sleeping...

yes of course the sheep would be there for the warmth AnnieMacD. I don't know the older I get the more the blatantly obvious things slips me by. Alteknacker - I don't know if to feel pleased or not that their may be some one else wandering the hill at the darkest of nights, bad enough having stags s...
