100% sunshine and a melted Tunnocks

Car park not busy which was a surprise. Already feeling hot at 10am so short sleeved shirt will be enough. Sprayed myself with sun tan lotion then donned my hat and booted up ready to go. It will be a drain walking in conditions like this for me, I sweat a lot at the best of times. Sure enough, by t...

Making it a circuit by chance

Arrived at the car park at road end just before 10am. 8 cars already there so popular. Still spaces for a few more cars. Booted up and off. Cloudy but little wind so good walking to be had. A track to start once through the gate at the bridge. Took a short cut up a grass track through a field where ...

Ben Gulabin

Parked beside the gate to the track as instructed. Plenty of space for a few cars on the rough ground and another car park just a couple of hundred meters back if its busy. Booted and walking by 10am. Bit dull with heavy cloud so put on my big waterproof coat just in case. It was sheltered walking u...

Geal Charn treat

Perfect day for a walk, no clouds and cool breeze. Two other cars in the car park already at 10am. Loads of sun screen on before I start. Kept the kit in my rucksack to a minimum, it’s not going to rain anytime soon. The route is described as boggy but it has been dry for a while. How boggy could it...

Sunny Schiehallion again

Been a wee while since last up here. The weather was going to be great, not too hot, little wind, so decided to give it a go. The Braes of Foss car park has been joined by an overflow car park at the top of the brae, so a wee walk to get to the original. Didn’t need it though, got a space with no pr...

Loch Garry

I have always been curious about Loch Garry ever since doing both corbetts at the start of the loch. This time I wanted to walk the whole length of it and decide if I wanted to do the Corbett at the other end. It was a straight forward walk from the car park over the railway and along the track. The...

Beinn a’ Chuallaich blisters

I had driven through rain at Dunkeld and couldn’t see any hills. Approaching Pitlochry I could see the clouds breaking up, just kept on driving. Arrived at the parking area at 10:30am. It is just a rough bit of ground beside a gate into the field opposite the hill. I parked it facing the road to let...

A new hill and another loch

Arrived at the car park just before 10am and got booted up. Just wearing my micro fleece over my top as the sun was blazing down and the trees were keeping the wind off. 3 other cars parked so people already on their way up. Fired up the app on my phone to keep track of where I was on the walk. Once...

Loch Lee and Carlochy

Looking for more photographs of lochs in corries I chose Carlochy as my next target, with a bonus of Loch Lee thrown in. By the time I got to the car park at invermark there were no official parking spaces left because of the usual casual parking that people do when there is plenty of space. I manag...

2 Corries and a Corbett

This was a walk chosen for the photographs, specifically the two corries and their lochs. The Corbett was really an after thought if it was reasonable to do it. The day was clear and cold when I set off and I arrived at the Clova car park at 10:15am with several cars already there. Quickly changed a...

Ben Chonzie cloud

Walked from the Glan turret Reservoir car park where there is plenty of space to park. The weather didn't look too good but better to walk hopeful than not at all. Clouds low over the tops but Ben Chonzie was bright from the dam, optimistic. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/52758118645_11e8e1a13c...

Carn Liath Beinn a' Ghlo

After a long drive in arrived at a brand new car park, which was huge. Plenty of room for 30 or 40 cars if people park properly. No fee (yet) to park there. Once I got kitted up, walk through the cattle grid onto Monzie Farm and over to the gate to follow the track to a shed and a gate into path up ...

Clunie Walk

This route can be done from any car park in Pitlochry. It’s a straightforward walk well signposted all the way around. The climb up to the top is easy on tracks, but it branches off early and the path is following a small right of way to Strathtay. Had to dodge boggy bits all the way up but ok with ...

Vrachie

A routine walk as described on WH, small patches of snow at the top. Sunny day but wind was whipping up the cloud over the top all day. Was unlucky not to have a clear view when I finally got to the top. However, first serious walk of the year.
