never used gps in all my years walking..... however ,compass does not work correctly on skye Cuillin Hills , and assume gps would...... so i can see a benefit here for gps..... (are there any other places where compass gets 'magnatised' by the rock ??) so its a case of 1. learn to use a map and comp...

good report on a long walking day capturing a good number of munro's on the way.
thanks for sharing. did only the lochnagar summit when i was up that way...but this (long!) route looks a much more interesting day.

still looks scary and even more difficult than i remember from 20 years ago....!!!!
we used ropes for some of the more tricky bits.
remember being on hands and knees for most of the way !!!!!!

Schiehallion was very busy. large path most of the way...then into the mist !!!! weather improved later so saw some of the views. 4 hours and ten minutes........ 2 hours to top (about 10 min of stops) weather improved on way down so had a long 30 min lunch and photo break. met 2 guys who went up in ...

Ptarmigan and white hares in summer coats

morning of 29th july on Schiehallion. hi, there are some great guides on skye who can take you to all the tops (some need ropes and a little climbing). i did this some 11 years ago in september and was lucky with good weather. be sure to do The Inaccessible Pinnacle, which i found the highlight of the trip....i dont really climb so this...
