Scafell Pike in October

Hi going to the lakes for a week in October .... not climbed in the area before so planning in doing Sacfell Pike ,some advise on safest and quickest route as some family are joining me ....and any other I should try as a first timer to this area ....... thanks

As any one climbed Fionn Bheinn by train from Achnasheen train station. . I can get a train from Perth to Inverness then a train to Achnasheen arriving at 10 18.... and the last train out is 18 25 getting back to Perth t 22 39 .. A direct line north off Stob Ban is craggy, so you need to head W or SW a bit initially: there are traces of path in the scree. The terrain in the col is lumpy and potentially a bit confusing in poor vis. The ascent to Claurigh is long but straightforward: mostly grass and a few boulders. Quite a b...

Hi peeps
Hope to go up to the Corries in the morning... Just ask how easy is it to get from Stob Ban on to the main ridge its self
Tomorrow. Will only be my second munro. This year so the will it be a tough round . Or just do it in two trips.

Garmin etrex vista - don't have OS maps but that's not a problem as I prefer looking at a bigger map view than I'd get on the small screen - cheers :) I have Topo Gps on my iphone but the bat life is bad but do go out with back up. Thinking about buying a gps unit ??????

Hi guys i seem to be doing more and more solo hikes due to shift work and different. Days off from friends .So was thinking about buying a good gps unit so i can download routes from here a just to give myself a wee bit more reassurance. When out on the hills and with all the travelling involved now...

Cairn on top of Aonach Beag

Hi was climbing Aonach Beag and Mor yesterday ... To find there is no cairn at the top of Beag ... Or if there is it must be under the snow ... Please tell me if there is or not ,this must be one of the first Munro's I have climbed with nothing ... And the Cairn on Mor is massive ... Did I miss some...
