UK Mountain Photo of the Year

I have been lucky enough to have a photo reach the final of the Trail magazine "UK Mountain photo of the year" competition. My photo is from a two night winter camping trip on the Isle of Arran. The conditions were amazing, two days of perfect winter conditions and a temperature inversion....

Do you use trekking poles at all? If you do then that would open up a lot of options to fit your requirements. I'd suggest taking a look at the Tarptent Stratospire 2, which is a strong and spacious shelter coming in at 1.35kg with the solid inner option. https://www.tarptent.com/product/stratospire...

Not munros, but the Arran hills are great for a summit camp. Caisteal Abhail has the best options for pitching in my opinion and there's a fresh water spring not too far from the summit. I live near Milton Keynes and always get the train from there on my trips to snowdonia.

I travel with my ice axe strapped on the outside of my bag with plastic point protectors attached and have never been questioned by station security or the police officers who are often at the station.
