Ben Lawers

After we had trained our legs yesterday on Ben Ledi we felt us fit for the first Munro of the year. Ben Lawers was the one and may be we will extend the route over the ridge to An Stuc. Fortunately the car park wasn't as busy as yesterday at Ben Ledi there were only 4 cars on it. We start enthusiast...

Ben Ledi first of the year

For our first hill walk this year we decided to start with a more easy one. Ben Ledi seems to be a good choice. The weather looks good, a wee bit cloudy but dry. We arrived at the car park around 10:00 o'clock and there were still some cars and it looks like it could be busy on the walk. Ben Ledi it...

Loch Tay Walk

After a long journey from Berlin by plane and car me and Mrs. Beekeeper were arrived in Killin in the afternoon. When we finished dropping all our staff in the B&B our legs need a bit movement after the long time of sitting and there was enough daylight for a short walk. The Loch Tay walk looks ...

Re: Need advice for Loch Tay Region

If you do get to Ben Lawers, ascending An Stuc from that side is easier than from Meall Garbh. The ridge between Lawers and An Stuc is a good bit of fun and has grand views down to the Lochan. Thanks, it looks like a good idea. I think we will try this extension of the Ben Lawers Walk and have a lo...

Re: Need advice for Loch Tay Region

Thanks for all your advice  It seems that Tarmachan Ridge is the favourite and a have to walk. An Stuc looks quite interesting but the ascend frightens Mrs. Beekeeper a wee bit so I think we will do it later without snow. There are a lot of more interesting walks but we have only one short ...

Re: Need advice for Loch Tay Region

Could be any weather I'm afraid. Sounds like Scotland at any time of the year. I'd hope a lot of walks in that area might not need crampons and Ice axes - but you have to play it by ear til about late-April. Okay, the crampons and ice axes will going in to the luggage. Ben More and Stob Binn...

Hi, end of March me and Mrs. Beekeeper will be at the Loch Tay Area. What do you think will be the conditions on the hills in that time, are crampons and ice-axe still required on higher grounds? What's your favourite walks around Loch Tay and surrounding areas. Looking forward to your recommendatio...

Re: Meindl Perfekt/Superperfekt

I'm wearing Meindl Boots since I do walking and there will be no other Boot on my feet. I prefer leather boots without Goretex. With a good wax on it they are nearly water proof and the climate inside is better than with Goretex. Now over the years and countless kilometres my old Meindl boots have d...
