Simon's Seat

Into the quiet northern Howgills (route carefully selected and no-one at all seen en route) for the final proper walk before shutdown. A beautiful day and typical rolling grassy walking terrain. simon.gpx DSCN4545.JPG DSCN4546.JPG DSCN4548.JPG DSCN4549.JPG DSCN4551.JPG DSCN4555.JPG DSCN4556.JPG DSCN...

Sea Palling to Mundesley, Norfolk Coast Path

Very blue skies, a coastal stretch largely on empty beaches, occasionally low sandy cliffs. sea_pallin.gpx DSCN4502.JPG DSCN4505.JPG DSCN4509.JPG DSCN4512.JPG DSCN4516.JPG DSCN4517.JPG DSCN4518.JPG DSCN4519.JPG DSCN4526.JPG DSCN4527.JPG DSCN4528.JPG DSCN4533.JPG DSCN4534.JPG DSCN4537.JPG Bus confusi...

Mundesley to Sheringham, Norfolk Coast Path

Up towards the more familiar, and hillier, north Norfolk coast. Re-covered the new route from Cromer to Sheringham and then busses to the east for another stretch under blue skies. Plenty of evidence of recent and significant erosion. sheringham.gpx DSCN4455.JPG DSCN4457.JPG DSCN4458.JPG DSCN4461.JP...

Hopton to Winterton, Norfolk Coast Path

Long stretch at the far end of Norfolk and perhaps not the greatest, especially the grey-skied miles through industrial west Yarmouth. hopton.gpx DSCN4412.JPG DSCN4414.JPG DSCN4416.JPG DSCN4419.JPG DSCN4423.JPG DSCN4424.JPG DSCN4425.JPG DSCN4426.JPG DSCN4431.JPG DSCN4433.JPG DSCN4434.JPG DSCN4438.JP...

Winterton Ness & Martham Broad

Peaceful and sunny around the Norfolk Broads, but with the highlight the coastal dunes. Surprisingly tough going underfoot in places. w_somerton.gpx DSCN4359.JPG DSCN4364.JPG DSCN4368.JPG DSCN4369.JPG DSCN4371.JPG DSCN4372.JPG DSCN4378.JPG DSCN4379.JPG DSCN4382.JPG DSCN4384.JPG DSCN4391.JPG DSCN4395...

Re: the C word

Months without hills is now really sinking in. I've hardly been out this year much with the awful weather but I have face the fact I'll not be going to the lakes or the dales for the foreseeable future. :( I am in a little quandary about the Cleveland hills however, they are about 45mins drive away...

Scout Scar

Nice limestone walking in the morning sun, terrain quite unlike most of the Lakes. scout scar.gpx DSCN4314.JPG DSCN4316.JPG DSCN4319.JPG DSCN4320.JPG DSCN4328.JPG DSCN4332.JPG DSCN4335.JPG DSCN4339.JPG DSCN4341.JPG DSCN4342.JPG DSCN4345.JPG DSCN4346.JPG DSCN4348.JPG DSCN4352.JPG DSCN4353.JPG

Claife Heights & Latterbarrow, Carron Crag

Successfully dodging bad weather around Wainwright's Outlying Fells, first combining the Claife Heights and Latterbarrow routes - lovely outbound past the tarns and up/around Latterbarrow, but a scratchy return through the plantations. claife.gpx DSCN4076.JPG DSCN4080.JPG DSCN4089.JPG DSCN4090.JPG D...

Re: Isaac's Tea Trail - Section One

Hi Christo, No, nothing like it! The only bit I've walked is your planned next part (the few miles from Alston to Nenthead) and even that only on the way elsewhere, but it's a good route. Pretty close to the river in parts though, I'd think some of it's probably impassable at the moment. Best wishes

Re: Isaac's Tea Trail - Section One

Just been writing about Isaac's Tea Trail, Christo! - two Walkhighlands mentions in one day... Some fascinating skies in those photos, and I hope you like the next section as much as I did.

Flinty Fell, Three Pikes

Taking advantage of some late summer blue skies and a stay in Alston to break the usual ‘straight up-&-down’ habit of reaching the North Pennine summits. Flinty Fell is the closest of all for a quick roadside visit, but there were tempting riverside LDPs on the map to make a proper walk out of i...

Re: Pen Y Fan your thoughts...

To answer the question in your caption, it's Cribyn in the last photo - with Fan y Big (and a host of others) in view behind). Great photos of great hills in lovely conditions... I hope you carry on with Wales and echo the previous comments - and it's probably only Snowdon itself (and do go even the...
