Re: The Knock of Braemoray

nice hill that Gordon - its better to park up on the lay-by on the right hand (east) side of the road just to the south a bit. from there there's a wee path heading towards a white boulder high up on the hill, makes for a much better route up.

Re: I nearly went out with a bang

really enjoyed that, there is something reassuring seeing the hills in much the same state that that they are now, probably one of the few consistents in modern life (apart from those developed for renewable energy). thanks

Re: Hart Fell, not the usual way, but quick all the same.

looks like you had a good day Rodmeister. I did hart Fell and Whitecoomb in one circuit dropping down into the Carrifran burn, really nice hills and area.

I avoided the bracken at the start by going straight up the slope to the right of the bracken, very steep but quick!

Re: 3 boring Beinns from Linn of Dee

I think its unfair for people to pass judgement on J888ohn.

as i have got older I have found I am now enjoying the journey more rather than focusing on the destination, is it an age thing?

Re: Completing the Grahams on Arran

well done to the two of you, great achievement. It will be a bit of shock to you walking on paths again rather than deep spagnum :D

Re: The Lows and Lows of the Heights of Kinlochewe

well done RogerT on writing this, I was up the very same glen last week to climb the Graham Beinn nan Ramh above Leckie. To me, this particular large scale hydro scheme was the culmination of a year of bagging Grahams and Corbetts and witnessing many many glens being devastated by Hydro schemes. Whi...

Re: Winter is not over just yet: Beinn nan Ramh

sorry to hear about yet another hydro scheme in one of Scotland's beautiful glens. I've noticed over the last year or so that these are now being built in every glen with a suitable burn, with multiple developments in the bigger glens! The highland landscape is being radically changed forever. It ap...

Re: A Ring Around The Sister of Kintail

I did a similar route recently, but descended from Sgurr Fhuaran down the hanging N ridge/spur (which starts at the lip of the N coire) to a very old and hard to find stalkers path (marked on map) which helps alleviate the very steep descent. That sounds a really interesting route. The path is not ...
