Pembrokeshire

Me and the girlfriend are thinking of spending some time there in the summer - can anyone recommend any good walks or places to visit etc? I am aware of the costal path but we will be in the car so long distance walks are out, we will have to settle for shorter circular walks....besides, we are doin...

Re: APW 3 - Life on the Edge - Peak District eastern edges

Great pictures.

I do a fair bit of walking in the peak district as I live in Huddersfield, which is near the northern end of the district. I was on Bleaklow last week and didn't see anyone all day.

Re: DECIDING ON YOUR LAST WAINWRIGHT

I thought i might finish on Castle Crag but blew that a few weeks ago, so now its either Helm Crag or Troutbeck Tongue. I’ve been up to the base of the Howitzer on Helm Crag but my conscience just won’t let me tick it off in the logger :? I've been to the base of that too, had a quick try at gettin...

Re: DECIDING ON YOUR LAST WAINWRIGHT

With 6 fells left to complete the Wainwrights, I find those remaining completely uninspiring. I've never been particularly concerned whether I completed them or not. Like others have stated, it is only when you look and realise how few you have left to do, do these sort of conundrums crop up. If pu...

Yes, but you need to be able to see the sun.

Re: DECIDING ON YOUR LAST WAINWRIGHT

Well, I only have five left now.

I'm still going with Mellbreak to finish, I reckon.

Re: Helm Crag, a Wainwright too far

I was up there the other week, I didn't manage to get to the top of the fell either!

I think I'd got a way sussed out, but I was running out of time and didn't want a ticket when I got back to Grasmere. There's always next time.

Re: Crib Goch

That ridge is a belter.

I've done it a couple of times.

Re: DECIDING ON YOUR LAST WAINWRIGHT

I don't know why people are so down on Skiddaw. It has a good ridge walk via Ullock Pike, and has one of the best views in the district - especially from Skiddaw Little Man.

Re: Walking in the Howgills

Any chance of some walk reports ? I'll put a few pictures and a report up after I've been. It's still about four weeks off though. We didn't manage to get a walk in the Howgills - the cloud was very low so we drove over to the lakes instead and had a very pleasant walk up Wansfell and Wansfell Pike...

Re: DECIDING ON YOUR LAST WAINWRIGHT

Still have the Scafells, Great End, Bow Fell and Wetherlam to do..... I've done all of those, and they are all great. I'd probably keep the Scafells/Great End till last if I was you - it's a cracking ridge walk, but gets very busy on summer weekends. A summer weekday wouldn't be too bad though. I d...

Re: DECIDING ON YOUR LAST WAINWRIGHT

Arnison Crag has one of the best views in the district IMO and wouldn't be a bad one to finish off with.

What's Mellbreak like? Is it a decent one to leave till last?
