Re: Left behind and thrown away rubbish.

I object to the posts in here attacking motorists, mostly from one contributor obviously working off some grievance or other.

Re: Taymouth Castle Development

A recent planning application (approved retrospectively  ) appears to be annexing Inchadney Park; P&K's approval states that gates must be left unlocked at all times to allow access to core paths. Which begs the question, why then do they need gates? Planning application 23/00236/FLL if an...

Measuring up the cellars for his coffin more like.

Taymouth Castle Development

Concerns over access being raised here:

https://www.thenational.scot/news/23642009.fury-dlc-plans-8000-acre-playground-mega-rich-loch-tay/

Given Perth & Kinross Council's cosy relationship with landowners over parking issues in Glen Lyon, I'm not expecting rigorous appraisal.

Re: Deer collisions

I was driving north of Peebles some years ago in the early hours of the morning when two deer leapt out in front of me. Missed the first one (or rather it missed me) and hit the smaller of the two with disgusting results - it obviously had enjoyed a good feed of grass earlier. Similar damage to Fife...

Re: Hidden Whisky! Ben Mor Coigach

Tip of the week - if you find a whisky bottle full of amber liquid under a rock, take a good sniff before having a swig.

Re: Inn Pin

Well, how many have stood on top of a trig point atop a Munro? I do realise this argument is not going to stand up to rigorous debate.

I wouldn't claim it, personally. I feel guilty about ticking off Ben Wyvis despite being turning back a few metres shy of the summit due to claggy weather.

Re: Sròn a' Choire Ghairbh and Loch Lochy hydro scheme

I imagine (without having looked at the contours) that because there would be much less difference in height between the upper and lower reservoirs, the Ardverikie scheme would not generate as much power. So it would be harder to justify its up-front costs. But I may be totally wrong! I think, I to...

Re: Glasses

What type of contacts are you using? I had problems until I switched to daily disposable lenses. Like Chris above, I prefer lenses to glasses in windy conditions because my eyes seem to water more with glasses, and if they blow off I'm stuffed!

Re: How has hillwalking changed?

Whilst wearing trainers out of JD Sports isn't advisable as the grip on the soles are usually inadequate, the whole boots and ankle support theory has been debunked to be honest. :? Maybe I've just got weak ankles but occasionally I've been in shoes (rough and rocky underfoot) and definitely felt t...

Re: New Grahams!!!

This measurement in metric / imperial is WAY too basic for modern times. Using this handy chart here: https://www.theregister.com/Design/page/reg-standards-converter.html we can select some more relevant options. We need to move to a universally recognized measurement that will never change - there...

Photo graphic evidence you say ? Me on the western shores of Harris after the last 24h Nevis Charity walk ... took some persuading to return to those watery depths I tell ya! https://megapencil.co/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/CthulhuNrSecondSR-1024x474.jpg A bit of non-Euclidean geometry might explai...
