Re: The Beast in the East

Cheers Graeme. Not bad for a phone camera but the light was perfect.

The Beast in the East

Carn Toul.gpx I had a week off work so with a gap in the weather forecast for Tuesday, I made the very very early trip to Glen Feshie having seen a report from dogplodder on doing these two from there.I was ready to go at 6:30am and set off along the road. I had looked at ways The sky was starting ...

Re: An Socach - Last of the year?

Nice report! I think that was definitely an eagle. I don't think there's really an alternative to a straightforward "out and back" route for this hill. A couple of (fairly minor) variations are possible - you can drop down from the col between the two tops to the end of the main track Tha...

Re: Scarpa Manta Boots

I've got the same boots and put the stiffness in my calves down to the effort in covering a big distance in heavy boots. Anything over 10 miles does have me really feeling it the next day although I wear them all year round as they've kept my feet bone dry when they're plunged into bogs, rivers and ...

Re: Loch Lomond: First time walking/camping

To echo what has been said above, I read this article the other day about the state of two of the official camping sites:

http://parkswatchscotland.co.uk/2017/03 ... ick-halls/

I would give thought to camping somewhere else.

Re: Beinn Luibhean to Beinn Ime

I climbed it having dropped down from Beinn Ime and I can't recall it being too boggy. It was a steep descent from Ime and there were one or two boggy bits but nothing to worry about. I couldn't see a path so I just picked a way through any parts that were wet underfoot.

Re: Glenshee 6 - hiding a bike

I parked at the ski centre and did the round from there by walking down the road in the direction of Carn an Tuirc. Once I had finished on Creag Leacach I then retraced my steps before traversing Glas Maol (there's a path which you can follow) and using the tracks which go down next to the ski lifts...

Re: Ben Lomond access road - first week of April

I can see the Ben from the back door and there was plenty of snow on it today. I can see a few folk getting caught out this weekend.

Re: Loch Ossian 3 from Corrour 'train dilemma'.

I did them via train but from Crianlarich and it took me just over 8 hours. If you really go for it then I'm sure you could do it in 7 although I wasn't hanging around the summits. The walk from Sgor Gaibhre was longer and tougher than I had anticipated due to a combination of deep holes (went down ...

Re: 7 Munro's of Crianlarich

I've not done the full round but the western three. I found the route finding between Beinn Chabhair and Beinn a Chroin reasonably testing. You drop down to about 600m and the terrain is knobbly/complex. All 7 in one go would be epic. I'm happy doing them in chunks though. I crossed that bit as wel...
