Re: Derry Cairngorm and Beinn Mheadhoin

Looks like a great day out - those mountains look so great with the snow patches on them. I'll be spending a few days in Braemar over Easter, so hoping for some similar weather and will be doing this same walk, I think. Beinn Mheadhoin is the big goal for the trip anyway. Good luck with the rest of ...

Great photos and an interesting route. But it was this sentence that made it a top report, for me. Added a nice touch of reality. :D

Re: Top Ten Scottish Hills

Not sure if this has been done on WH - anyway, my list changes year on year so I was curious to see what folks think of as their top ten hills 8) Here's mine ... Sgurr a Choire Bheithe ... Hmm - at this point:... Aww - I feel a bit sorry for Sgurr a Choire Bheite now. What happened that this hill h...

Re: The Cairnwell Three Wi SNOW fOR me

That looks like a lot of fun. A heck of a lot of fun. Some find these three boring, so the answer to that is, do them in winter. My regular walking comrades did these without me and said that they were boring and scarred by all the ski paraphernalia, but I quite fancy doing them with a bit of the wh...

Re: Perfect day in Glencoe

That's very nice. I did these two a few days before you (last Saturday) and they were good fun, especially with the strong gusts of winds that were blowing across the col between the two. And both me and my colleague also ended up on our rumps when coming down through some of the boggy stuff on Meal...

Re: 27.56%

I started years ago and im still plugging away. My plan was to be a compleater by 30.. Only a few months left gulp!!! Well I am 30 til November. Good luck with those final 6. Just wondering, I see you've got some of the best left to the end, was that intentional? Is there a particular mountain you ...

Re: A day of mishaps

Nice report. Sounds like an eventful day. The views down to the Loch and over to Braeriach from Sgor Gaoith's summit are breathtaking aren't they? Did the walking clothes poles work? This exact walk was my first taste of the Cairngorms in July '09 - although the old bridge in Glen Feshie was s...

Re: Best midgie spray, cream, potion?

I think Smidge was only new to the market last year, from a company set up by students at Edinburgh Uni. It's available in Tiso, and the like, but it's not cheap. Here's a link of stockists: http://2010.midgeforecast.co.uk/index.php/info/distributors We had read some good reviews about it so tried i...

Re: Eiger: Wall of Death, Today (Sun 3rd), 8pm on BBC4

That was great - some of the photo's and video clips really got my heart racing, even though I'm just sitting here on my sofa. I'd be straight onto Amazon looking for that White Spider book, but in a couple of days I'll be taking delivery of a couple of Reinhold Messner books, so those'll probably b...

Re: Meall Buidhe

Not much of a hill, but a good one to hold on to for a rainy day. But the views from the summit, on a clear day with good air clarity, are simply fantastic. I climbed this (and Stuchd an Lochain) on a sunny day in May '09 and the panorama was fantastic. One of my walking group bought a new camera i...

Re: Eiger: Wall of Death, Today (Sun 3rd), 8pm on BBC4

Thanks for the heads-up. I think I'll be watching this Eiger show tonight - maybe I'll follow that by watching Clint Eastwood's The Eiger Sanction again... 8) :D

Re: Best midgie spray, cream, potion?

Myself and a few others tried that new Smidge stuff last year, and we all thought it was better than Skin-so-Soft.

Change of tack this year, I'm hoping to get some camping done before the midges come out to play...
