Re: Carpark and route closed!
On 28th Feb 2021 the car park was still closed and paths closed because of "landslips". We parked at the dam and went up the route from Garrison Farm: no sign of any landslips. We noticed that some others had moved the cones aside and parked in the car park regardless.

Re: Ben Challum - a better way?!
You can remove the question mark from your title: this is without doubt a better way of tackling Ben Challum. I did it today and had a great circular hillwalk, returning to the walkers' car park at Auchtertyre Farm with dry feet and clean boots. Many thanks!

Re: overboots
At least I'm not the only one with the same problem. Near me it has rained almost every day for a couple of months so there are very few routes that can be guaranteed dry underfoot. I'm tempted to buy a cheapish pair of waterproof rubber boots: they won't breath, of course, but what's the point of b...

Re: Glen Sherup circular
Prompted by your report, my wife and I did this walk yesterday and found your description of the going to be spot-on. I should, however, point out that your figures are quite understated: the turning point at the watershed is more than 5km from the car park as the crow flies so the actual distance c...
