A snowy start from the Bealach na Ba!

Determined that the weather was not going to be an issue for me walking this weekend, I checked the forecast and decided on the easy option of Sgurr a' Chaorachain to add another Corbett! Edit: Maybe you'd just like to look at the video slide-show I made instead of reading my report? I hope you'll d...

Re: A Rainbow Welcome in Coire Lair for Beinn Liath Mhor

Hello Jakeyboy Loved the photos. I think I may have seen and briefly spoke to you two about three quarters of the way up the Eastern Summit. I had had problems with my walking pole so was a bit slow coming up the first climb but fortunately you had stopped a few times and were taking many photos - ...

A Rainbow Welcome in Coire Lair for Beinn Liath Mhor

Waiting for Laura to get back to me as to whether she could join me on this my second outing of 2012. I had the usual problem of whether to take on the Corbett "Fuar Tholl" or go for my first Munro of 2012 "Beinn Liath Mhor". I had decided to make up my mind when I reached the ju...

Re: Arctic Hares, Scary Grouse, Charred Heather and wet feet

Also watched this beastie for a while! Not sure what it is, but didn't look that big. Maybe just a Buzzard? Any wildlife experts out there?

Re: Arctic Hares, Scary Grouse, Charred Heather and wet feet

Jakeyboy good decision if you wernt too confident going to do the Cairnwells as they say it will always be there for another day, sill good that you got a good walk in anyway. I'll be doing most of my next walks in Braemar area welcome to tag along or look out on the meeting up forum. Cheers Tomsie...

Arctic Hares, Scary Grouse, Charred Heather and wet feet!

My first outing of 2012, and with nobody available to go with me, I went through the agony of deciding what I should tackle. I went from Corbett to Long Walk, back to Corbett, perhaps a nice Graham would be more sensible for my first this year. Break me in gently I thought. I briefly back-tracked to...

Re: Glove advice please!

I went for a pair of Berghaus Aquafoil gloves initially - they proved to be reasonably wind proof but they are not waterproof by any stretch of the imagination. After reading the reviews of gloves here on WH I plumped for the Rab Latok ones - wind and waterproof. They also have a grip like a gecko....

Glove advice please!

Okay people, I don't really wear gloves, I never have. But I'm attempting to kit myself out with a basic set of essentials and although I have purchased a couple of pairs of "Polartec Power dry" Liner gloves already, I feel I should have a good pair of decent outer gloves too. What I need ...
