Re: Car park closures Glencoe

Sad but no doubt charges to park will come. Why are we paying road tax.

Re: waterproof trousers for tall slim men

Rohan Barricade, I have found Rohan to be excellent , comes in all sizes, even for the vertically challenged. Shame that Rohan doesn't get the publicity it deserves, but I always give them a look and compare every time. Get a lot of their stuff and find it excellent

Re: Heated Gloves

I have a similar issue , but not Raynaud's, just cold hands. I bought a pair of North Face summit series down mittens in their sale. They have been transformational, the only ones I've found that work. Glad I spent the money. As you mention, the distraction of cold hands is an issue and this I felt ...

Re: Winter hardshell: Jottnar Odin, or Arcteryx Alpha AR?

Still using The North Face or my Berghaus Gore-Tex kit with layers underneath as required for temp' changes. My friend swears by paramo kit, but I am Gore-Tex persuaded. I suppose it comes to whey you feel meets your needs and your most comfortable in.

Re: Removing Fabric Softener

Probably do a wash without the fabric softener, just plain soap flakes would clean your stuff. Out with this a clear (no additives) wash cycle may clear the system . Don't know if it really matters unless your washing delicate kit like Gore-Tex, event, paramo etc.

Trig points

Just a thought, but has anyone ever bagged every trig point in the UK?. Had a look on the trig map and there are quite a number. https://trigbagging.co.uk/trig-pillar-map/

Re: Arcteryx Beta AR hardshell replacement

Have used The North Face and Berghaus in the past with pleasing results. However, am considering paramo next for a choice. Have heard them to be really good and folk who use them all seem to be pretty convinced by them . My only thought though is apparently you do tend to run a bit hot in them, stil...

Absolutely, the absence of mentality or reasonable responsibility is also bagged along with the mess and also abandoned.

Even worse - tie it on to a branch!!!

Re: In praise of the litter pickers.

Yes hats off to the litter pickers, one and all    . I occasionally pick up some rubbish - usually discarded plastic bottles or cans found on remote paths. What I find truly appalling is discarded filled plastic dog poo bags - revolting!! and being plastic will take years to degrad...
