Re: Bein Ghlas and Ben Lawers

Well done on your first Munro's! What was the car park like at that time? Was it full? We're up on Sunday and heard the car park gets full real quick at the weekend!

Re: Inaccessible Pinnacle (Sgurr Dearg) & Sgurr na Banachdic

Hi Stuart, I was up on banachdich the same day as you, and like you say it was so eerie sitting at the summit on your own. I met 3 lads at the top and they were on there way too the pinnacle . Well done on your climb Hi David, thanks for your comments. We saw the three lads headed to the inn-pin. W...

Thanks Bod...I didn't think it would be that quiet up there, must have picked the day for it! Either way, I'm glad to have done this one now :D

Inaccessible Pinnacle (Sgurr Dearg) & Sgurr na Banachdich

After staying in Portree for a hillwalk in June (for JC's final hill), I took the liberty of booking the accomodation for a weeks holiday for wife and 2 year old for non-hillwalking break. Looking forward to spending some time on Skye to actually see Skye and not just turn up for hills (I've only be...

Andrew's last hill will also be his arch nemisis - Am Basteir on Skye. He has 2 on Skye which we have scheduled in for October so weather permitting!

Stob Ban, Stob Choire Claurigh & Stob Coire an Laoigh

After last months highlights on Skye, we returned further south this month and decided to tackle the three at the Grey Corries. Andrew had these to do (as did I!) but JC, who is now onto his second round had hoped to take in all 4 (Andrew and I did Sgurr Choinnich Mor last January from teh Glen Nevi...

Sgurr nan Gillean - JC's 1st Round Complete!!

Our final hill after a hectic week (for JC and Andy anyway, I only arrived for yesterdays (long walk) and our fellow walker Donnie's daughter's wedding we were all invited to. We travelled up from the Ledgowan bunkhouse and parked up at the Sligachan Hotel to commence our final Munro of this trip (a...

Sgurr Choinnich, Sgurr a' Chaorachain & Maoile Lunndaidh

Sadly left my camera in my car....grrrrrr! My hillwalking buddies were up since Monday for a serious programme as the plan was for JC to finish his first round of Munros on the Saturday on Skye (see next report to find out if he achieved it!) I didn't make it up to our base until late Thursday night...

Stob Ban & Mullach nan Coirean (The Mamores)

Early start picking Andy up in Larbert at 6:30am before meeting Donny and Alan in the car park in Glen Nevis (Polldubh) for a 9:30 start. It was forecast a beautiful day and it did not disappoint. We left the car park and decided to tackle these hills clockwise meaning we did Stob Ban first as we ha...

Ben Vane

Second outing of the year and was flying Han Solo this time. Our little group (that I have been going out with since 2004) is starting to fragment as many are nearing the end of their first round of Munros. The first completed round is scheduled to be on Skye in June (which after careful planning co...

Re: Stob Ban and Mullach nan Coirean

Nice report!

We'll be doing this tomorrow (Sat) in similar fashion, leaving from Larbert 06:30 and doing the same route.

Nice to know to do Stob Ban first and miss the boggy terrain.

Great pics for this time of year as well.

Carn a' Chlamain

My first outing since Oct 2011 due to a back injury and I was really looking forward to getting out especially as I thought it was a nice wee easy one to break myself in after not being out for 3 months. Forgot though that we still had to make our way up the long track from Old Blair car park throug...

Beinn a' Chlaidheimh

We had this on our list even though it looks like it will become a Corbett soon! We did climb Sgurr Ban, Mullach Coire Mhic Fhearchair and Beinn Tarsuinn back in Oct 2009 but it was a bridge too far to complete all four so we left this one for another day. After our usual brekkie stop at Tarvie (gon...
