Re: Queensberry from Forest of Ae

Thanks for the comments, its certainly the driest route that i could find and yes, a mountain bike would make short work of the forest section.

Creag Gharbh from Glen Ogle

Began the walk from the parking area in Glen Ogle where several years ago i set off for another Graham, Meall Buidhe which was a far shorter distance than the one that i was about to undertake. I could've used a shorter route from Killin but the weather was so perfect i wanted to make a proper walk ...

Four from Balsporran

A month after our last visit to the Drumochter area where we bagged a pair of Munros further up the road in a mixture of rain and clag, Big Jie and i decided to tackle the four summits on the other side of the A9. The weather was a definite improvement this time round and as we parked up at Balsporr...

Final Cairnsmore bagged

I'd read reports of construction work going on around the Green Well area west of Carsphairn village and driving down the road from Dalmellington i'd noticed a lot of windfarm traffic and plant near Benbrack but when i parked up at the concealed layby opposite Green Well all was quiet and constructi...

Craignell to Darnaw circuit

I'd bagged a few of the hills near Clatteringshaws throughout the years but for some reason i'd missed Craignell therefore another excuse to visit Galloway on what was supposed to be a mostly sunny day was planned. As i left the A712 and drove up the narrow road behind the dam the skies were already...

The Beinns from Arinabea

After pondering over a few different routes for these Corbetts i decided on the most direct approach from Arinabea Cottage at the eastern end of Glen Lochy. The path i chose was absent from both OS Landranger and Explorer maps of the area but a quick check on the Bing maps aerial view showed me it w...

Re: Two Carns from Glen Callater

Sunset tripper wrote:Glen Callater is a great approach for these hills. I like to take the bike up to the bothy. Brilliant path from there all the way to Lochnagar.
Cheers :D

Mountain bikes would've been handy for the glen section but an old motorcycle injury rules me out of that option !

rockhopper wrote:Nice day for it. Interesting way to approach these hills as opposed to a Glen Muick start. Haven't been in Glen Callater but looks a nice route - cheers :)

That was a route i found on the SMC Munro guide but a Glen Muick adventure will be on the cards next year....thanks.

Two Carns from Glen Callater

Accompanied this time out with workmate Big Jie the walk began at the busy carpark at Auchallater where we set off along the Glen Callater track. Pockets of morning fog still hung about near the mouth of the glen but was quickly burning off with the promise of a blue sky day as forecasted. It took u...

Queensberry from Forest of Ae

After a week of mostly rain i decided to tackle this hill via the Romans and Reivers Route through the Forest of Ae. The construction of the large wind farm here has seen the path through the forest resurfaced and greatly expanded with a branch reaching the open moorland just east of the hill itself...

The A93 revisited....again

My first foray into the area around Glenshee was in June last year and since then i've returned several times bagging various hills when weather and time allowed. On this occasion i decided to explore further up the A93 and after pouring over my OS map i noticed the Corbetts Creag nan Gabhar and Morr...
