Walked on Saturday 25th May 2019, started at 7am by being the first car parked in Layby 94 on the A9. Finished at 12:30, so 5.5 hours for this single. Geal Charn - Easy single from Balsporran Cottages

Only needed this single on the West of the Drumochter Pass as I got 3 on my previous visit here, so a nice Friday afternoon walk from Balsporran Cottages to Geal Charn (917m) You cross the railway track at the cottages and shortly after the path splits, go left, but at the next split take right. The...

Glas Maol & Creag Leacach - No snow!

Very short video of the hike-it was rather blowy! https://youtu.be/CtIH0eRilZs Started at carpark across from the Ski centre (200 feet of a start!) just after 10am and back for 3pm. The rounded lump that is Glas Maol: https://c2.staticflickr.com/8/7877/40235106143_8432416729_h.jpg My Daughter Megan ...

Stob Coir'An Albannaich, Meal Nan Eun height o' summer

Sunday 24th June 2018 and an area of high pressure had planked it's erse over Scotland so we were guaranteed some fantastic weather. I picked Peter up in Glasgow at 6:30am and by 9:30am we arrived at Colleitir at the bottom of Glen Etive. Despite a "Lotus Owners Club" meet, we bagged a dec...

Re: Cairnwell on a hot May Day

Hercy burd? You must be ex military. I got a cracking view of a Herc belting down Glen Isla on Saturday 27th May - must be an exercise on. I was well above it heading for Glas Maol after spending over an hour on top of Monega Hill but my camera was firmly lodged in my backpack. Opportunity missed. ...

Wildcamp and 4 Eastern Glenshee munros

Friday 26th May 2017 was just a super day in Scotland with temperatures predicted to hit 30 degrees celsius in the North of Scotland. I bagged the 3 Cairnwell Munros during the heat of the day, and as it only took 4.5 hours, I decided to start on the Eastern side and howf the tent up the hill and wi...

Cairnwell on a hot May Day

Friday 26th May 2017 was predicted to hit 30 degrees celsius in the north of Scotland. I started from the Glenshee Ski centre carpark at 13:30pm with a few two litre bottles of water in my backpack. I was amazed at the head start this affords you - some 2160 feet, leaving only 1000 feet ascent to ba...

Scorching day for Ben Lui from Dalrigh (A82/Tyndrum)

Sunday 7th May 2017 saw a ridge of high pressure sitting over Scotland so we were guaranteed a great day out in the hills. We had initially wanted to bag a pair down deepest Glen Etive, but at Crianlarich we noticed a road sign indicating that the A82 would be closed from Bridge Of Orchy at 9pm, the...

Re: Buachaille Etive Mor via Curved Ridge in 4K (UHD)

Aye, thats a cracking route, and the longest, although there is a bit of a serious section if you do it right - Broad buttress is also pretty special, and I would go back there first somehow. Still havent done Lagangarbh, which doesn't look like a long day as you can get down into the corrie pretty...

Re: Buachaille Etive Mor via Curved Ridge in 4K (UHD)

Always brilliant to see a route up the front of the Buachaille - beautiful views, memorable times :D Surprised you went for curved ridge again when there are so many other good scrambles of better quality though, somewhere down the line I've come to think that a day up curved ridge is a waste, prob...
