Re: Poor Planning on Aonach Eagach.

Ouch well, your experience is the sum of your near misses, so well done. Only thing I’d say is my (multiple) experiences of the Aonach Eagach, in all conditions, is the the rock is pretty good and not greasy so I wonder if yo need to review your footwear? You don’t mention what you wee wearing but ...

Re: 19th birthday hike up An Teallach

There's nothing better than the instant widescreen view you get when the clouds clear.

I'm assuming the route detail you've shown is incorrect as you missed Sgurr Fiona and walked onto an outlying summit.

Re: Ghosts of Glen Shiel

A great report but the summit light show could quite easily have resulted in a call to Mountain Rescue and a lot of wasted time.

Glas Tholl path - An Teallach

It's now over 20 years since I last walked over An Teallach and on this occasion we walked clockwise over Corrag Bhuidhe, Sgurr Fiona and then over Bidein a' Ghlas Thuill. We descended into Glas Tholl where we were surprised by the magnificent and relatively hidden cliffs that flank the western side...

Re: Smidge

Often I wonder what the old Highlanders did to keep the midges ,ticks and clegs at bay I often wonder what anyone who lives in western Scotland does to keep the midges at bay. It must be great having a place on the coast or next to a loch with great views but are you able to sit out between June an...

Re: Newbie with sore legs and feet

I don't know if anyone else reacts like this but stiffness and aches after the toughest hill days disappear once I get going again. I've really struggled the morning after a big day but after a mile or two all is fine. Obviously if the aches are down to injuries then that's a different matter but do...

Re: All the Lakeland Tops

What a magnificent post. I wish I'd kept a diary of my walks for future reference.

Is it me or did all kids look the same in the early 80s? :D

Re: The benefits of bright clothing

I've always purchased any jacket\waterproof based on its comfort\fit\waterproofing qualities rather than colour but always thought that it's an added bonus if it comes in a bright colour. If the jacket\waterproof type I want is available in multiple colours I go for red\yellow. If it's only availabl...

Re: Leave details in your rucksack

A friend of mine left his rucsac on the main Pennine Way so he could yomp over to the summit of the Cheviot in a more lightweight manner. On his return his rucsac, which contained his tent and other belongings, had gone. He spent over two hours searching in all directions before giving up and headin...
