Re: The North Face

I'd personally prefer it if organisations spent more time helping people with low incomes into the hills more. I'm sure that they need the extra help far more.

Re: The North Face

Ethnic minorities are welcome on our hills and always have been. Too many people forget the simple fact that many of them aren't interested in the hills but morons like The North Face misinterpret data and cry racism. All The North Face have managed to do is create an issue by making people believe ...

Re: Spectres and snowbows - above the cloud on Bynack More

I didn't realise that there was that much ascent in that route. Are those stats correct?

Re: Cheviots Done and Dusted

I've come across more blocked and overgrown paths in the Cheviot\Northumberland region than anywhere else. For some routes the ability to scale industrial quantities of barbed wire is a must-have skill.

It's not somewhere I'll be rushing back to - apart from the coastal routes.

Re: The gore-tex vs. paramo debate

I've been tempted to have a go with Paramo but have always chickened out based on the reports of the potential to collapse completely. After trying various alternatives over the years I remain a believer in Goretex with the only issue I have being that it never seems as effective after reproofing. I...

Re: The Ring of Steall - Autumn wonderland

That looks like a lovely day out - some great pics there! The bone-jarring and relentless descent down the northwest ridge only managing to put a slight dent in the warm glow. An interesting alternative is to take the NE ridge and the old stalkers path through Coire Sgorach to rejoin the normal des...

Re: The Cumbria Way

For us the Cumbria Way route died a bit after Caldbeck with the final day to Carlisle probably the least interesting of any walk on any of the long distance routes we've done.
