I carried a 10,000mAh battery pack (Silver crest Lidl) which I used if I remember correctly twice to charge my phone. I had a spare battery for my camera Panasonic Lumix. T...

Re: Looking for recommendations for grippy trail shoes

To do the WHW, well if you look for a window of dry weather (don't laugh, it can happen) IMO you could do it in your slippers. The need for high priced, high tech footwear is a myth. On many Munros in ideal weather, I refer to above, could be done in your now, well travelled slippers. I think Matala...

Re: A' Bhuidheanach Bheag - Secret Summit?

Ha ha what I gather from the remeasure of Beinn a' Chroin is that the three tops are all now within 1.5 metres of each other and the one with the cairn, which I'm guessing was assumed by most baggers as being the real Monty, is now demoted 😁

Re: A' Bhuidheanach Bheag - Secret Summit?

I recall that Beinn a' Chroin has several tops which when you are at one feels distinctly lesser than others and ditto on being at either of the others. I think there are three within 4metres of altitude when upon a remeasure may exchange supremacy This too has had an accurate survey (see http://pe...

Re: Which summits are the Five Sisters?

Having five sisters and two brothers I have of course completed my family in Kintail. I did not do the Spaniards as I found I had started at the wrong place so continued up a fairly good track before heading to the pass between the Spaniards and the Ciste. At the other end I did Moraich(my sister Ka...

Re: Avoiding Arrochar parking charges

I've often thought about heading up onto bealach a mhaim - between Ime and Narnain - from inveruglas, looks fairly straightforward, and not that much longer than the usual router up from arrochar. I did that route after doing Ben Vane to meet up with colleagues doing Narnain and Ime. There is not a...

Re: Leaving car at Crianlarich

Call in at police station, next the pub Rod and Reel, or something like that. He is an understanding and decent sort, allowed me to overnight with motorhome. Was knackered after day in hills and road was blocked by a an accident. If you explain I'm sure he will keep an eye on your car. Wouldn't leav...

Re: Finding a pitch in areas of long tussocky grass

I'm hoping to do some wild camping soon in hilly areas, I'm a bit worried that when it comes time for pitching up the tent, I'll be surrounded by tussocky long grass and gorse. Is it mainly down to luck in finding a decent level patch thats been trimmed down by grazing? Has anyone pitched on the lo...

Re: Lost Valley done! Adventure Walk Suggestions Needed Plea

Sorry i apologise I fhink my answer was out of order.
The Nevis trail to Steall waterfall is an amazing walk but maybe you might consider something more challenging.
There is a resource on here "ten easiest Munros" . Have a look through them 😉

Re: Lost Valley done! Adventure Walk Suggestions Needed Plea

Id head down to Cornwall and do the coastal path,
The Scottish hills are boring beyond belief.

Re: Unusual summit features

It would seem the the hills in England and Wales are seemingly all very interesting with such wonderful appendages. Scotland by contrast are so mundane and boring bereft of anything which would recomend anyone considering visitng them. So everyone, for your own gratification please head South of tbe...

Re: from Braeriach to Cairn Toul

Should have read the whole post better, you are doing it from South ok not like the Lake district paths (2 lane motorways) and Cairn Toul is a boulder hop from any direction 😊
