Re: Wingsuit jump from An Teallach

I feel queasy just watching it.
Nutter.

And how does the camera in front of him not produce a stalk/ stick.
Or was there a cameraman six inches from his face?

Re: Ben Lomond (from Rowardennan to Inversnaid)

We did this some moons ago now. 1996 the weekend of the Scottish Hillrunners prizegiving in October. Thanks for jogging the memory. Anyway, we went from Inversnaid up and over the Ben to Rowardennan. I recall a fair slog over a heathery ridge to gain the north aspect of the Ben. I agree with others,...

revisit gael charn plateau- beware the visibility

GaelCharn2.jpg I took a saunter up here on the classic route in November last year. It got clagged out above 600m, with snow on the ground and poor visibility, down to 20m. Well, I followed the spur onto the plateau until it seemed to be dropping, but there was no sign of a cairn. And no paths arou...

Re: Canoe across Loch Quoich

Thanks for the comments. I dint take any pictures Rockhopper. I kept the phone wrapped upon a poly poke that had some rolls in them at Drumnadrochit. I had a look at Mountainloves lilo across. Indeed, thats some style. I don't know how she managed to take the photos going over. Either a waterproof c...

Canoe across Loch Quoich

I had been eyeing this trip for many years. The adventure of a boat across the loch seemed the ideal way across to this remote hill. Conditions were right- a scandinavian high pressure system that was static and has provided stable weather, but particularly little wind, for several days. It all look...

Vintage winter mountains on British Film Institute website

Just discovered some cracking amateur film of winter/ spring mountaineering in Scotland in the 1950s. Really enjoyed the hill spotting on it. Its not all Breadalbane either. The bit around Killin in the middle is a bit less interesting, but stick with it for some glimpses of alpine stocks and army s...

Re: A perfect winter day on Sgiath Chuil and Meall Glas

Great report, and a lovely day.
Yep, I remember these being much wetter than this.

I made an attempt on Beinn Dearg, Ullapool, but got caught in a front which brought in the cloud and rain to 700 metres. Funny how quickly things can change.

Well done to you for seizing the moment.
