Re: Longest line of sight

While this post has still recently been revived, I too managed to see Hart Fell, but from Carn Liath on 6 October 2021. 157km udeuschle.de tells me. I'm sure had I been further north I could have still spotted it; it was such a clear day.

Re: Blaeloch Hill

I rather enjoyed this one when I did it about 6 years ago - a very plain and simple hill (although I did end up visiting Kelburn by accident!) A nice day you got for it!

Re: Mullered - XXXX hot with a very unpleasant after taste!

If it's any consolation, I still have Ben Lui to reclimb as in low vis I only visited its other top before getting on with the other 3. That was after staying the night in the car park at the end of a completely blue sky day!

Re: Blairadam Forest Explorer Walk

After moving to Kelty last year we are here now and again. It's a good little loop to do!

Re: Road Conditions in Rural Perthshire

Partly unrelated, but I was up it on March 1st this year and the road was completely fine. I would be surprised if the road was even partly covered in snow given the mental heavy rainfall the past 2 days (and relatively benign temperatures).

Re: Losing motivation to visit the hills

I have lost motivation in little bouts over the past 7 years I've been hillwalking but they have never lasted particularly long. I do have to say that the lockdowns had both a massively positive and negative effect on me. On one hand I was being paid my wage to quite literally sit at home doing what...

Re: Beinn Fhada tops

Did these same tops on the 10th after Dorsal Arete. Was too worried about the bad step but as I was descending it, bypassing it ended up being a doddle. Looks like the excellent weather continued!

Re: 4 tough compleations, in a soggy SW

A great second completion, FF! It's been 4 years since I was last there (in fact it was your old report that clued me up on the water-cap idea!) and I'm still not in the mood to return!!

Re: Haweswater Jaunts + A,N Other

Inspiring stuff as always Sgurr. The Wainwrights are second (of two) of my absolutely-must-complete list. Birkhouse Moor never stood out much to me either but that's an otherwise very impressive haul. I will watch each month with anticipation - very best of luck!

Re: Borders Day 2 - back on the bike

What a loop! Glad to see you back down that way; I wish I'd gone up that Juniper Craigs rig at the time, it looks quite nice. Unsurprising that we took the same nip-up-and-straight-back-down mentality to Clockmore - it's a right bugger!

Re: Last of the winter(?) on Creag Meagaidh

Was trying to plan a route for these tops recently and it ended up similar to this - good to know that road is in fact negotiable by bike! Certainly a brilliant choice of mountains for this weather :D

Re: New boots on Meikle Bin

Interesting, I got the Borneos a couple of months ago and have had blisters on top of blisters with them so far (been on 2 big walks and a few small ones with them). I'm actually tempted at the moment to buy some sandpaper to harden my feet up faster. At least yours fit!

Re: How Low Are U Willing To Go With Water Quality When Camp

I've been drinking out of dodgy water sources in the hills for years with no filter/tablets and have had gastroenteritis four times from doing it, knowing that it's probably going to happen. In the first instance it actually passed on to four other family members. Has never happened again since I go...

Meall Buidhe (Glen Lyon) Access Road in Winter

Hello all, Thinking of having a crack at Meall Buidhe from Loch an Daimh on Tuesday (1st March). Weather looks relatively benign but my main worry has now shifted to actually getting the car up to the dam at this time of year. MWIS is forecasting a frost Tuesday morning and some other reports make t...
