Re: Handheld gps

For you Viewranger users who turn on the Off Route alarm feature, what distance do you like to set it at? I'll be in Scotland in May and we'll do some hill climbing, Munros and others. I won't rely on it to keep me from going over the edge, but I do want to stay on course.

Re: Skye bound the last week of May

Monty, I saw Musicfinder's post, have already sent him a PM, but saw your note here too. We're staying in Portree the last week of May which obviously starts the weekend you're there. It looks like you've got Cuillin experience, would you entertain another couple tagging along? It would likely have ...

Ullapool May 18-23

We (couple, 50s) are staying in Ullapool. Open to anything in the Ullapool area, Munro or not. We will not have a car so if you can pick us up, we'll buy the pints at the end of the day.

Re: Advice request for May walks on Skye

Aye and thanks juhso, I notice that on the reports. If we decide to skip Sgurr Dubh Mor, so be it, we're not on a mission, just out to have fun.

Re: Advice request for May walks on Skye

Thanks everyone! Foggie's Coire a'Ghunndha, Sgurr Dubh Mor and Sgurr nan Eag, suggestion sounds like a winner for us and if the weather is bad we've got a number of fallbacks (insert emoticom here) in the low levels and Red C's. We're not against using a guide and will consider that too; it must be ...

Re: Advice request for May walks on Skye

Gotta love "vertical death" as a Black Cuillin description. Thanks all, we will check out the recommended hikes. We handled significant exposure on An Teallach and Forcan Ridge and understand the risks, just don't want to take a walk where ropes become absolutely necessary; the reports her...

Advice request for May walks on Skye

Hello all, love WalkHighlands! Karen and I are hopefully visiting Skye in May 2013 and will likely rent a self-catering apartment or cottage for a week (welcome to any suggestions). We are in good shape, 50s, our experience is limited with 4 Munros under our belts to-date; full traverse of An Tealla...
