Re: CMD and the Ben (with views)

I am in the process of writing up a report for the same walk from Sunday, not quite as good as yours... but still beautiful :) Here is a sneak peak of Todd leading us out over the ridge :) http://i1185.photobucket.com/albums/z354/Pete_Birtles/IMG_3809_zpsvybv4vtm.jpg~original Incidentally, I avoided...

Re: Inn Pinn and Banachdich. 12 rounds with Tyson

Congrats on conquering the Pinn! I really need to write up my reports from the Cuillin back in April as had a couple of fantastic days in full winter conditions with Jonah - including the In Pinn. I was surprised how little the Pinn phased me - in fact ledging across snow packs scared me much more a...

Re: Current Cuillen conditions

Was up the Pinn on Friday and the climb was fine - only a couple of patches of snow on the Pinn itself in the cracks but nothing to make the climb difficult, small patch right on the top, but again if roped it wont cause a problem. On the walk in we used crampons on the very top of the ridge and to ...

Re: Drinking water in the hills

I regularly drink out of flowing streams when walking, generally if it doesn't look appetising I avoid it, although I appreciate that dead bodies floating upstream etc are unlikely to change the colour! If it's yellow, let it mellow (in a bottle), If it's brown, drink it down, If it's black, put if ...

Re: BBC News:Anger at poo on footpath to mountain Creag Meag

Reminds me of the time I got caught short on Bidean Nam Bian, just below the cliffs... my stomach was actually cramping and I was wretching with the pain...having never had a wild dump I was terrified. Anyway I manned up and found a handful of nice soft moss which I thought would be a good choice - ...

Re: Photo Competition #11

Just missed out on a podium place :-) not too bad and apologies I didn't get round to voting. Looking at the winners from this year (all Scottish) I am happy with my 2nd and 4th places the two months I entered with Lakeland pics as understandably on a Scottish based walking site the favourites are l...
