Re: Beinn Liath Mhor – The Sky of Many Colours

Haha that's funny - I think we were the folk you met coming down. Just for your piece of mind: We made it up and down both BLM and Sgorr Ruadh and back to Glen Torridon well before dark. We came up from the Torridon direction. We only stopped to deliberate about crampons for ages on the scrambly pat...

Re: Resistance training, improving fitness for hiking event?

Whilst it may not help strictly with hill-fitness in a direct sense, it is certainly something worth doing and when done correctly it can only help in my experience. My general "activities" are these days centred around endurance/aerobic based stuff like hiking, running, MTB etc - but I al...

Re: Asking for trouble

I'm a member of Cycling UK and last week their newsletter pointed to this route. https://www.cyclinguk.org/stw_classic_150 It's a circuit of Carn a'Mhaim and Ben Macdui. That's a pleasant, if demanding, walk. Bits of it are uncycleable or shouldn't be cycled and skill in navigation could be called ...

Re: Cycling in the hills

And sorry, not wanting to derail from the OP's question but curious if anyone does these kind of rides on gravel bikes as opposed to MTBs? I'm looking at doing more cycling next year, and would prefer a gravel bike for longer distance rides on road, tracks and some light trail - I've been using a h...

Re: Din Law now has a cairn because I made one!

I get your intention here, and it's not the most egregious thing in the world to do, but for me "Leave No Trace" also includes cairns. I don't think every hill needs a bunch of rocks dropped at the top, and even less an encouragement to do the same - if people are dead set on finding the s...

Re: Ben Mor Coigach: I just can't get enough!

Logged int after quite some time to tell you off for saying these hills are in Assynt. Bit of a sore point for Coigach locals like me

Great report though, making me miss home!

Re: Beinn Dearg Mor & Beinn Dearg Bheag

I've been all over An Teallach in Summer and Winter, through all the Fisherfields and live less than 30 miles away from this, can see them from my house! But yet I've never done this route. Looks breathtaking! Beinn Dearg Beag looks a great ridge walk. Awesome report!

A'Chailleach and Sgurr Breac - First walk report

Hey guys, This is my first walk report after browsing them on the site for a year or two now. I'm "between cameras" at the moment, so sorry for the blurriness of my phone pictures. After being defeated the previous day (Sat 8th Jan) by very poor visibility and heavy snow, which cleared up ...
