Re: Hello!

There are many smaller (or non-hill!) walks that I love every bit as much as the munros- I think you'll find plenty to keep you busy over winter :D

Welcome!

Re: Where do you draw the line?

Scotland is vast with many different oppurtunities for walking, why stick to plans? The forecast isn't actually bad for rain it's wind,so do lower or routes that don't take you near ridges exposed drops. There is infinite choice, and it's great to get out in the elements This is the philosophy of my da...

Re: Us Or The States????

As an American, who has been east to west + north to south across America, and who has never lived anywhere else but America I can tell you... Scotland. Definitely Scotland   Sure, the US has it on variety and contrast, with the benefit of sheer land area. But much of it feels like it ...

Re: Summer holiday with kids

I thought Ft William/Glencoe was great for the kids, as Caberfeidh mentioned. We took our boys there a few years ago, they were 8 and 10, and we had a few great and mildly scrambly walks. We went up the gondola and hiked around up there, took them to Nevis Gorge/Steall Falls and the wire bridge, and...

Re: Mullach Mor and A'Cruach (Holy Isle & Arran)

After eyeing up Mullach Mor from the shore on several different visits to Arran, we finally made it up last year. Pity I left it so long as it was a fine and thoroughly enjoyable little hill, and very well captured in your report!

Re: Canada - Tent Ridge - A whole new playground

Chris I MUST stop reading your reports in the middle of my workday, it does terrible things to my productivity to be dreaming of hopping on the next flight to Canada. Which may be all I accomplish for this next hour or so :D It's a truly amazing corner of the world you've found there, HighlandSC and...

Re: WH North America - The Tennessee Trio

You chose a fine walk for us Stretch, so glad you could join us on such a short notice. The next day Scott and I both felt as though we'd climbed a munro  ...we had best shape up for when next we're in Scotland! In truth I'm a bit glad for my camera battery fail, as your pictures of creepy craw...

Re: In love with your Open Access Code! :-)

It is great, especially when coming from an area where walking across land you don't own is frequently regarded as a crime. When walking down my own street, I need to be sure I stay along the road and don't stray onto a neighbor's property, or else the neighbors will fire a few warning shots from th...

Re: My Skye Memories: Beareraig Bay - knock knock on the rock!

Thanks for sharing this BP! I love the hidden corners as much as I love the hills.
I've spent some time wandering around Flodigarry finding a few ammonites, but going by your report Beareraig Bay offers lots more to see- will have to pay it a visit in the future.

Re: Weekend looking interesting

Mountain forecast - West Highland for Saturday (from Met Office): "North to northwesterly gales developing: in the south gusts 50mph , in the north gusts 60mph increasing 70mph later over northern Munros" Well, that's off-putting   That's even worse than my forecast... and I...

Re: My Skye Part 5: The land of waterfalls

Enjoyed each installment of your Skye reports BP, they were great to read :) Me striking a pose on the rock - this one is safe to show my dad. No vertical drops anywhere... This made me laugh, as each time I return from Scotland I have to sort through my photos for the ones that are safe to sh...

Re: Newlyweds on Honeymoon: From Norway to The Pap

Thanks to everyone for the wishes :D The hills of Scotland are special places indeed, if they can bring two people together even across oceans. Holly- A wonderful view of the Pap, I love it! I don't think I took many pictures at all from my walk of the Horseshoe a few years ago, as I had enough pict...

Re: Newlyweds on Honeymoon: From Norway to The Pap

We should have pinned Walkhighlands badges on our wedding attire... why didn't we think of that?? This is my special little hill, so it was great that it was our first hill together as a married couple. The pap always made a good leg stretcher after stumbling off the overnight flight into Glas...

Re: Cul Mor & Wildfires near Inverkirkaig (Assynt, NW Highland)

A great day out indeed- looks perfect. You're accumulating a large collection of hills you're just going to have to do again with me, you know! But maybe with less fire :o
