Re: Cul Mor

So you could say that you breasted Cul Mor!  Ha!...in that case I'll have to return again just so that I can have the pleasure all over again. I done this for my 40th Birthday ( 16th Aug) last year and my wife said." what do you want to do for your 40th?..go out for dinner? Go to th...

Stac Polly

This is from a walk I done in late Febraury 2008. Having climbed this hill several times in summer I found myself up in the area and seeing fresh snowfall on all the hills couldn't go home without walking something. With very little gear on me I ruled out Coigach which I had my eye on but since I kn...

Re: Cul Mor

Hi NevJB, Thanks for the pics....I never tire of visiting and walking in this area and as such been up Stac Polly 5 times, Suilven, Canisp, Cul Mor. Planning on doing Coigach shortly and Suilven again. Like you say this whole area is majestic and every hill is worthy of climbing regardless of status...

Diebidale Ridge-Glen Calvie

Thought I would post this walk done in Feb 09 more just for giving info on lie of the land around Glen Calvie/Alladale and the hills over to the Dearg group. Walk up Glen Calvie for an hour and once reaching Diebidale lodge head up the hill beside the lodge which gives a steep climb initially before...

Re: Seana Bhraigh

Thanks Bigbertie! My OS 20 map has scribbles all over it from walks on Chuinneag,Diebidale Ridge, Glen Alladale, etc etc. Seana Bhraigh was over all too soon but I do tend to do the hills that capture me a few times over so I'll be back. I'm hoping to do Carn Ban trip in the Autumn, ( hopefully no m...

Cul Mor

The hills in this area north of Ullapool are just amazing and from most of the summits you get wonderful views of the lochan clad moorland that makes up the North West Highlands. Driving up the night before so that I could get an early morning walk and the sunset over Cul Mor captivated me for well ...

Carn Chuinneag ( Corbett )

This fine hill lies up Glen Calvie and is an excellent hill to climb at any time of the year...hence I've climbed it six times in all weathers and all seasons! Glen Calvie is the route I tend to choose as the walk or cycle in through Glen Calvie is very scenic and evocative if you know about the Hig...

Re: Seana Bhraigh

foggieclimber, Good to see some winter shots..I'm busy walking the various hills and Glens on OS map20..( I call it my backyard, living in Tain I can get to them fairly quickly in winter time as well. I walk a lot up Glen Calvie, ( Carn Chuineag etc ) and Glen Alladale. Hoping to do some winter walk...

Maoile Lunndaidh

Maoile Lunndaidh..2nd August 09. Having climbed Morusig and Sgurr nan Ceannaichean a couple of years ago and impressed with the Glens below, and seeing a couple of walkers climb up the ridge of this hill I thought that I would pay it a visit. My mate and I drove down and when we got to Achnasheen it...

Seana Bhraigh

This hill has always intrigued me after I saw it in Cameron McNeishs' book several years ago and having seen it from various angles from other hills I spontaneously decided to drive up to Corriemulzie and hopefully see it for myself. Last summer I climbed Suilven, Canisp and Cul mor and the view to ...

Re: Adder

The Adder in Inverchoran was almost 4feet..apparantly unusual as the females tend to be up to 90cm and the males around 70cm. I have spent the summer wandering about in long grass looking for them and a few weeks back in Glen Calvie almost ran one over on my bike. I jamp off to take a photo by which...

Re: Adder

The brown coloured Adder was in my local area, I returned this spring but all I found was some shed skin..I was hoping to film them coming out of hibernation..but mis-timed when this would happen as it was a mild winter. The darker Adder was seen not far from Inverchoran en route to Choire Glas. My ...

Re: New `Walker`

Hi from mountainman (Tain)..whenever I get new boots I break them in by going up Fyrish or The Struie rather than going straight into a longer walk, that way you're less likely to get blisters from new boots.
