Found: Vehicle keys

If you or someone you know has recently lost a set of vehicle keys in the vicinity of Dungoil, nr Fintry, then give me a shout with a wee description. I'm guessing from my own experience that they'll be expensive to replace. I'm assuming you had a spare set with you as there was not a sad, abandoned...

Re: New Year circuit on Ime, Narnian & A'Chrois

I meet a guy who's looking for a sheltered spot to put up his radio signal - the wind is chopping and changing direction, so it isn't happening for him. That would be me :D Hello, nice to meet you. I did eventually find a spot out of the wind, back towards the top of Spearhead Buttress. You have so...

Re: Which Car?

Another Octavia 1.9TDi here, I drove one for work for a couple of years prior to getting my own, fair sized boot and economical too. Possibly my only downsides with it are that the boot floor isn't the same height as the rear bumper although you can get a false floor for this (I don't want to reduce...

Re: Beinn Dubh - SOTA Summit GM/SS-090

Aye, a crackin' report there with some top photos. I sometimes think it's rather difficult to show how windy it was in a photo as it doesn't look as windy as it was from your photos.

I wonder if your euromillions came up? :D

Re: Beinn Ghlas & Ben Lawers

Fab pictures. I was on Meall Corranaich and Meall a'coire Leith the same day, only I forgot my camera :? A wise choice not to head up along the Lochan na Larige. I was the first car up the road past the Tarmachan parking spot that morning - well the road was a sheet of fresh snow anyway. I got about...

I always understood that gas power stations could be swtched on/off in about half an hour. Coal I thought took days and nukes, well they don't get switched off.

Re: Race to the wild?

just because somewhere hasn't been granted National Park Status doesn't mean its any less special. Fully agree with you there. I think some of the most special bits of Scotland lack National Park status. The area of the Dunmaglass wind farm is one I haven't been to yet, I suspect I'll have a wander...

Re: Race to the wild?

It's also pretty much impossible to get planning permission for anything like wind farm in a national park, which I think is why you'll not see them in the Lakes although there's a few around the perimeter. Lots of the wild bits of Scotland don't have national park status therefore chances of gainin...

Re: Beinns a'Chreachain, Achaladair & Mhanach - lesson learned

"I did see one other walker coming down but he was slightly further to the south as I picked a route up through the rocks." I reckon that would have been me you saw :D Helloo I was only on Beinn Achaladair and Beinn a'Chreachain though, well impressed you did Beinn Mhanach too. Views were ...

Re: Snowed Out...

A82 was clear beyond Bridge of Orchy, in face the worst road conditions were in Glasgow, 'twas fine after Erskine. Mind the folks at the Real Food Cafe said it had been pretty quiet. Pleased I didn't go to Killin then, it was on the list of potentials. Plenty of snow on the North York Moors so I've ...

Glen Tilt

This was actually my bank holiday weekend escapade so about time I finally got around to writing a speel about it. I gave up on the saturday, the weather was slightly worse than forecast in that the showers that were supposed to die out turned into a great chunk of rain across the middle of the high...

Re: LAIRIG GHRU

As of friday morning, viewed from Aviemore, snow was down to about 700m in the Larig Ghru. Slightly lower in the shelter of the valley than the surroundings which had an approx snowline of 800m. Still winter on the summits for sure.

Re: Kid in a candy shop!

Have a big list of lots of mountains that you want to climb, then pick the one(or more) that fits in with a)how much time I have, b)what the weather is forecast to do (I try and pick the mountains the sun is shining on although it doesn't always work like that :) c)how far I want to drive (goes a bi...

Re: Hello from Puget Sound

Hi Stuart, I'm sure you'll get plenty of suggestions here but for my two penneth worth, I'd go to Steall Falls, Glen Nevis and Corie Ardair when in the Lochaber area, okay so Corie Ardair is a little bit down the road but it's well worth it. I've just had a look and there's info for both in the walk...
