Re: Advise needed for first trip to Scotland

Your best bet is definitely the West Highland Way.. Great public transport at both ends.. Milngavie & Fort William. You can buy a map of the route off the internet.. A good place to start is here http://www.west-highland-way.co.uk/theroute.asp Most people do it in 5/6 days. Plenty of camping spo...

Day Three in Glen Nevis - The Ring of Steall

It was our 3rd morning waking up in Glen Nevis Campsite. It was 5.30 and already light. Luckily it had not been as cold as the previous nights so we both managed to get a bit more sleep. The 2 days previous to this had seen us (the wife & I) tackle Ben Nevis via the CMD arete and ascend the very...

Ooh I may look into that. Does it require ropes...???

I've got a walk report planned for that. Hopefully get it on in the next few days. Let's just say I think I know why they named it Devils Ridge

Bidean nam Bian from Glen Etive

Hi all, is there a way up Bidean nam Bian from Glen Etive? I don't really want to go via Glencoe.
I know there is no path but was wondering if anyone on here I had been up from Glen Etive or attempted it and found it too hard.....
Any suggestions would be great
Cheers

A Gorgeous Day in Glen Shiel

After my last outing into the hills which was somewhat less than inspiring it was with some eagerness that I planned my next walk. And after seeing the weather report, the wife and I decided it was time to head back to Glen Shiel and attempt the 3 munros which we didn't do a couple of months earlier...

Re: Sgurr Breac - The hill with no character..?

You mentioned track leading to col, it doesn't. Actually it does and through stony area. Looking at photo must have been covered in snow. The track did go into the snow but at that point we were actually lower than the col. And your right there was a stony area ahead of us that the wife was just no...

Re: A changed route to Sgurr Mor

Yeah we almost went back after Meall a'Chrasgaidh but the weather was so good we didn't want to go home so early...
We went to Drummochter the following day and luckily took our crampons as we needed them again for about 100m... :D

A changed route to Sgurr Mor

Our original walk was to take in Meall a'Chrasgaidh, Sgurr nan Clach Geala & Sgurr nan Each which is the walk on here posted by Walkhighlands.. But as you will find out later the walk ended up being changed due to my insistence that crampons were not needed...... our_route.gpx So it was, we star...

Geal Charn (Monadhliath)

Our walk should've started just after 9am on Saturday morning but as we pulled into the car park at Garva Bridge I mentioned in conversation to my wife "When have I ever got us lost?" And so it was, we started just after 9.30....... Geal Charn 26-2-11 (6).JPG The car park itself is next to...
