Hi. Just checked online and the SL M3's are only slightly lighter than your Manta's so probably not what you are looking for. Oh well.

I've had a pair of Scarpa SL's for almost five years. They are brilliant. I wear them year round - lots of scrambling through the summer and with crampons in the winter. If I do a really long day they do start to feel a bit heavy, but I wouldn't go lighter because the stiffness of the sole and ankle...

I used 'seam grip' bought from an outdoor store to fix a similar looking hole on a pair of soft shell trousers earlier this year. It did the job.

Well done. My pal and I walked in to Barrisadale Bay a couple of Octobers ago and got so battered by a storm that we walked our wet and cold bodies straight back out again the next morning. Your report has reminded me to get back there!! Thanks.
