It was up there with the worst roads I've ever driven when I was there three or four years ago but it's been retarmacked now.

I'd had one of those days doing Carn Bhac and Beinn Iutharn Mhor in the bog and clag that make you question why you get up at 04:00 at the weekend to do hills... So long as they're leather all you should need to be doing is cleaning them regularly with cold water and occasionally applying wax to them. The Brasher ones look like they might be Nubuck leather or similar. Putting wax on them will probably make them look darker but shouldn't affect anything else.

I parked there recently with no issues. Two cars nose to nose should be fine.

There is also the option of parking off the A9 at the T junction that leads to Carrbridge. Haven't done that route myself but there are tracks on the OS map that lead between Carn Loisgte and Carn nan Eagan.
