Re: Toe Nail Trouble

If you get the nail beds removed at the same time it will save a lot of pain in the future, as nails would never be right. Didn't the nazis do that as an 'orrible torture? If the nail is discoloured, yellowish and / or flakey then it could be a fungal nail infection, which is treatable with...

Re: Many Rivers to Cross

Pole-vaulting can be an option. So can rearranging any nearby tree-trunks to form a bridge. Rolling rocks to form a series of stepping-stones, clinging to wading animals/other hikers, throwing a tantrum until someone else builds a bridge for you, or walking miles out of your way until the stream is ...

Re: October?

October is a great time in the highlands; the forest and moorland turn a wonderful mixture of colours, the biting insects die away, and the heat and humidity of summer is replaced by a cool and bracing autumnal atmosphere which is invigorating and invites you to hike through the hills and glens. The...

Re: How to get to the Isle of Skye by public transport?

I forgot to say, once you get from Fort William to Mallaig then the ferry across to Armadale, there are buses from Armadale to Broadford and Portree. But if you don't mind hiking and hitching a lift, and the weather is nice (everything on Skye is weather-dependent) the hiking along the road to Tarska...
