Re: The incredible power of awe - Sgor Gaoith winter summit

Wonderful to see you much stronger, Jaxter, and well done to both of you dealing with the long COVID effects and impacts. What a return! Characteristically bonkers and challenging, and - for the most part - beautiful

Re: Fabulous Frosty Fhionnlaidh

Glad you had such a beautiful day, especially with those views from the groovy rocks :D Ours have been mostly grey, rainy washout ones this month

Re: Cul Mor ... or frustratingly less

Exquisite - though a bit of a double kick having to share sunrise with a drone. Still, they could have brought their guitar* too, so maybe you got away lightly

(*Don't tell Mal I said that... :shh:)

Sugar Loaf and Ewyas Valley

A get together with pals on the first weekend of July to take in some fairly easy rambling. Day 1: Sugar Loaf (Y Fal) and the Vineyard https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/53221730106_c211964ded_3k.jpg Sugar Loaf map We'd lodged ourselves in various guesthouses in Abergavenny and met up the evening b...

Clegs and plovers on Meallan Liath Coire Mhic Dhughaill

Back in June, I had a day to myself up in Sutherland, so took the opportunity to walk MLCMD - since E didn't want to. I'd read Black Panther's and Murray's reports, and thought I could do without the peathags, so opted to do a longer out and back. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/53221676476_4cdb...

Re: Ben Macdui and the Lairig Ghru

What a fantastic report and arduous lot of boulder-balancing! I remember seeing saw-wort in 2017 for the first time near to the Chalamain Gap. It's named after pioneering phytochemist Théodore de Saussure. Not seen it since, so it's great to stumble across it again here in your report. Thanks for a ...

Braeriach - I've been waiting for you

Each time I've planned to walk Braeriach, something's got in the way - usually weather. The last time, I'd emerged from the Rothiemurchus woods to gale force winds. At first I'd battled on, but was soon wrapping myself round a tree, before all the trees disappeared, so that I didn't get picked up an...

Sutherland saunters

2nd June to 7th June I was able to head up to Sutherland. It ended up being a solo trip because E was working in Shetland, so I planned a few days exploring bits and bobs I keep missing because we have summits on our usual agenda. 2nd June: a boat out from Cromarty to visit the bottlenose dolphins A...

Re: Mullered - XXXX hot with a very unpleasant after taste!

I was watching my feet on descending Meallan Liath Coire Mhic Dhughaill on Saturday, and about to set off in the wrong direction (towards Meall Garbh) when I saw two people on the Càrn Dearg ridge (probably Weaselmaster and Allison - have you got orange waterproofs?). Did a double take as I realised...

Including maps in walk reports

Hi Paul Is it me, or has the facility to add maps to WRs disappeared? (Not that my recent straight line in Galloway was thrilling, but just in case I walk in an interesting pattern some day soon  .) Thanks! Emma How do I include a map in my reports? There are two ways to do this. If you have re...

Re: Mullered and whacked at Loch Enoch

Thanks Tim. That's a long descent, so I'm not surprised it was dark. The Merrick looks especially inviting from Loch Enoch, doesn't it. I imagine it was busy up top on Sunday. Bruce's Stone certainly was when we got back down!

Mullered and whacked at Loch Enoch

https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/52942325199_fcc12d1775_c.jpg route A glorious Bank Holiday weekend day gave us the chance to head back into the Galloway hills, aiming for Mullwarchar as Plan A, or Loch Enoch without Mullwarchar as Plan B. I had a Plan C which was to walk up Mullwarchar and back...
