Re: Not quite the Braigh Riabhach traverse I had planned

Yet another superb report Pete - thoroughly enjoyed that. I thought these two looked like a couple of nondescript humps when viewed from Carn A'Chlamain but your pics paint a different picture and, despite the length, this looks like another of those walks where the solitude and atmosphere of the wa...

Re: Catastrophic Cairngorms Climbing

Really enjoyed both the pics and your report (in a completely un-sadistic way) - this an area I'm desperate to fumble my way into also.

Definately shared your pain in the cigarette stakes on more than one occasion!

Re: An Adventure in Harris - Sron Uladail & the Oireabhal Ri

Excellent report and the pictures are good! And to have a cottage on Harris is great too. Hope you are making progress in restoring it! thank you. There's still a ;lot of work and many more trips to "the in-laws" on the islands to go...at least I've still got many more explorati...

Re: An Adventure in Harris - Sron Uladail & the Oireabhal Ri

Cracking report and some great pics. Haven't done these hills myself but trekked through Gleann Uladail in the past en route to Ceann Loch Reasort and Morsgail Lodge. It's a wonderful place. Hope to be there again later this year or early next. Will keep your account in mind for that visit. What a ...

Hillsound trail crampons

Anybody have any experience of using these that they would like to share? I'm aware that the Kahtoola micro spikes get a pretty big thumbs up from many users on here, but I've seen a few reviews of the Hillsound Trail crampon on the web which suggested they give the Kahtoolas a pretty good run for t...

Re: 50 (more or less) things to see in the Scottish Mountain

For me, there are only a few so far: 1. Distant sunlight rays on St Kilda when all else is clothed in cloud and rain - from any of the hills on the western edge of Harris (in my case, Oireabhal) 2. Setting off very early for a walk, so the only people you see are those you pass in the opposite direc...

An Adventure in Harris - Sron Uladail & the Oireabhal Ridge

The arrival of September and the gradual slide towards autumn has traditionally seen me looking to escape Edinburgh after the August throngs of the festival have dissipated, in order to get some much needed fresh air. As with last year, we were due another trip to the Outer Hebrides to visit Becca’s...

Re: Three from Glen Falloch

Brilliant Stevie, the day is always so much better when you are the first car in the car park, don't know why but that is usually the case. Glad to hear Maggie now recognises the long walk she's in for and takes it easy at the start...though she'll be fed up on short walks now   Maggie st...

Three from Glen Falloch

Another sunny weekend and the absence of Becca (owing to work) and friends (owing to holidays) left me with little to do except hit the hills for what would only be my second solo outing (unless Maggie counts?) since my ascent of a frosted Beinn Challuim back in Easter. With the weather looking most...

It looks like you can only edit your most recent post, or that you can only edit your posts until someone else has responded in the thread...

Re: Where Eagles Dare

Apologies morag - I can see no way to delete the post? :( I thought the netsing location instruction was regarding sharing specific & detailed (i.e. grid reference) locations. The fact they are in Tentsmuir is hardly a secret after all - the BBC featured the story on Countryfile a few weeks ago ...
