First real winter walk

I was keen to get out and try some winter walking and chose Glen Lyon, not realising how much snow there would be! My friend Craig picked me up at 6.30 a.m and we arrived in the car park at Invervar not long after daylight, we were first there but joined by another two cars within five mins, the fir...

Glas Maol

After two friends joined me to bag their first munro last weekend we were keen to get out again this week, I had also been in contact with Matt18 about meeting up for a walk. We decided to head for Glenshee to tackle the Glas Maol circiut as we would have two cars, allowing us to shave the 4km walk ...

Re: Carn a'Mhaim

Thanks Monty, I had been looking forward to seeing Macdui and the surrounding hills with my own eyes but was not to be, hence no pictures of them. :(
Look forward to your report sometime :)

Yeah Darren, it does look better than a hole in the ground mate

Carn a'Mhaim

We had originally been planning to try Ben Chonzie as this was the first time my two friends had accompanied me on a walk and the first time one of them had done any serious walking and that looked like a gentle way to break them in but the weather forecast for that area was not great so we decided ...

Nice report, was thinking on trying this out tomorrow, on foot though, good pics to as there does not seem to be many reports for Carn o Mhairn on its own.

Re: Monday 21st November

I was thinking along similar lines to yourself when considering my first "4 boot" walk. Still sometimes weary if there are few dodgy stories in reports. You could always just do a "3 boot" on Monday and leave the harder one until you have company?

Re: An Socach

Thanks Leithy, bit of a relief, would have felt like a bit of a plonker had I found out I went all that way and never made the summit for the sake of another 10 mins walk!

An Socach

Had been planning to do a walk with with Taylor94 for a while now but unfortunatley work commitments meant we had to keep postponing it. However I was off work all weekend and the weather forecast looked reasonable for Sunday so we made plans for a walk.I had hoped to have a shot at the Glas Moal ci...

Re: An Socach - NN166712

I'm just wondering what An Socach you did, i presume it's the one south of Breamar. The reason i ask is you could possibly not have reached the summit going by your description. You do reach a cairn then comes a steep climb to another large cairn but this cairn is not the summit. The summit is a 2k...
