Faroe Islands 2008 05/06/08-08/06/08

Early June 2008 I really wanted to get away from it all, as they say. I thought of a return to the Faroe Islands as being a battle with the elements to take my mind off other matters; I envisaged cloud, wind and rain there to take me out of myself and instead I got seventy two hours of sunshine. Wel...

Re: Faroe Islands 06/08/2006-14/08/2006

And that football ground is in such a magnificent setting. I remember seeing it on Google earth and thinking that's a ground I'd love to to visit one day. It is only a short distance from the Atlantic too so I imagine one or tow footballs might have gone that way. It is reminiscent of Torridon but ...

Faroe Islands 06/08/2006-14/08/2006

Part of our honeymoon in 2006 was spent on the Faroe Islands. We had little idea of what to expect when we got there as there was simply very little readily available information on walking there. However, we thought that we couldn't go too far wrong with some islands in the Atlantic as we both like...

Re: Talisker Bay, Preshal beg and More.

Great stuff. I remember going to Talisker Bay with a student walking club and wandering out to the corner of the cliffs to the south and being astonished by the oddly shaped rock there and the cliffs towering above with a small waterfall in the mid distance. I tried to encourage someone else to come...

You can follow a path up the right of the fall right the way up to the local bit of the ice cap.

Re: Iceland August 26th 2012: Haihnukur, Akrafjall

Lovely stuff litljortindan, great views from that little beauty and the sunset on your video from the 7 minute mark to the end was beautiful. A real shame you couldn't capture the Aurora but to see it is enough :D Great read, really nice to see another part of the world  It was a great sunset...

Re: Cul Beag

Love the last picture, there is a lot of depth in it 8) I don't blame you for keeping your gloves on as much as possible. The wind in the video (great btw) sounded like it was very cold. It was a bit unnerving watching the video: you filming whilst walking with the edge of the hill coming nearer :l...

Yes, possibly neglected in favour of more attractive neighbours but not to be missed!

three Icelandic waterfalls

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SwhCZ6Iuhas On the third day of my four day trip to Iceland I headed south from the north fjords area down to the south coast for a visit to Gullifoss, Seljalandsfoss and Skogafoss as well as a short walk up the small hill west of Vik. Seljalandsfoss especially I found...

Re: Iceland August 26th 2012: Haihnukur, Akrafjall

very nice - enjoyed that - hoping to have a stopover in Iceland this year but don't think I'll be allowed near the hills though  - cheers :) That's a shame re. Iceland hills but there are plenty of great waterfalls within a day's drive of Reykjavik. They also sell an excellent guide to Icelan...

Re: Golden Eagles on Ben Tianavaig

Can't imagine that the encounter with the eagles is a very common occurrence and what a setting to see it in. The inclement weather has yielded some good phtographs for you too so you must have great memories of this walk and cold and painful rain somehow makes for a more evocative report than plain...

Re: North Quoich Munros on a sunny day

Some great pictures there. Sounds like a long walk for a winter's day though. I climbed these hills in summer over two days about sixteen years ago i.e. when I had a lot more energy and I found that fairly demanding though the paths are pretty good.

Ben Tianavaig

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5QnHRQWPI6w I picked this hill for my wife as she had stipulated something not too high and with a good path for our trip to Skye. I had no idea what lay in store but had read promising descriptions. Really, for both of us it turned out to be a fantastic walk. It is e...
