The Whangie

A wee leg stretcher with Gillian A. We didn't actually make it to the Whangie itself (which I believe is the bouldery bit), but we did climb up to the trig point (Queen's View), then down to the reservoir (don't know the name of it), and had a bit of a stomp around the rough pathless ground that's p...

Re: I Think The WH Timings On This One Might Be A Tad Genero

Well done on reaching 100, Gary!
We missed you in Glen Etive, but I'm glad you found good weather and views, too.

Ben Starav

Left home, 05:30; met Martin in Crianlarich, 7:00 Left Glen Etive car park, 08:00 Ben Starav, 12:30 Back to car, 17:00; home ~20:00 I couldn’t have moved any faster if my life depended on it. Maybe I’m just worn out from the whole summer. At any rate, I was dismayed (and concerned) when I realized t...

Re: Spectre(acular) Starav

Martin, here’s one for/of you: martin_ben_starav.jpg Thanks for not making me sound like too much of a wimp. :) When we finally met up with Karen she was very chipper and was telling us about how she had had a memorable "deer" experience, I will let her describe the gory details  As ...

Re: Ben Starav and Glas Bheinn Mhor, this w/e 11 or 12th Oct

At the risk of upsetting a nicely settled apple cart (and Flump's state of bliss), do we want to rethink the start time?

Re: Hill Walking and Deer Stalking

I'd just written all of this over on Huff 'n Puff's WR about walker/stalker interaction, and rather than hijacking her report, figured it'd be better said in this forum. Where I saw this timely thread already started. It was nice to hear about HnP's experience; too often, it's only the negative expe...

Re: Walkers meet stalkers for an diversion on Carn Chuinnea

It's good to hear that Landowners and Hillwalkers can work together to solve a problem, resulting in a positive outcome for both parties, well done guys. I agree, it's nice to hear about a positive interaction; too often, it's only the negative ones that get reported on here. Thanks for sharing it!

Re: Ben Starav and Glas Bheinn Mhor, this w/e 11 or 12th Oct

Saturday is good for me. :D :D (priorities now in order  ) Yay! Meet at the usual spot? At whatever time suits y'all, as long as it's after 6:15... -- it's not getting light 'til after 7 anyway, and this *should* be a somewhat shorter day compared to other recent adventures...

Re: Sun, snow, hail and rainbows

Nice report, BP, and beautiful pics; you did get far better views than we did. Even so, I really enjoyed these hills, and would like to go back on a better day. (PS I had a little giggle at your comment on our Grey Corries adventure: I was so fed up when we got to the river, I couldn't bear all the ...

Re: Ben Starav and Glas Bheinn Mhor, this w/e 11 or 12th Oct

ya, sure, why not. Two Munros, three, seventeen...whatever. I prefer Sat as well; I think it was Chris who asked for Sun (something about that work thing...obviously, he doesn't have his priorities in order  ) btw, I called the estate today to ask about stalking, and we're good to go on ...

Ben Starav and Glas Bheinn Mhor, this w/e 11 or 12th Oct

Sunday 12th looking more amenable to the majority, but the final plan is weather-dependent. Backpacker is looking for the most favourable forecast, and will report back once he finds the one that's most agreeable to him. Probably following this route, unless someone leads us down an undiscover...

What a fabulous day it was!

Brilliant report, Martin, as usual, with stunning photos. Here's one that includes you:

Re: Arrochar Alps round - advice please

Quick clarification on the A82 road closure, if you're basing your start point based on the information I posted -- you can get as far as Inveruglas from the south (but not past it).
