There is also a glasgow hillwalking club on meet up that organise days, they rate ...

Re: Equipment for the WHW (in hostels and B&B) ?

good choice! each to their own but I know to me personally it just doesn't feel right to use a baggage carrier. There is just a special feeling to carrying everything you need on your back. It gives you so much more freedom :) I would agree if camping but the title says hostels and B&B's so jus...

Re: Equipment for the WHW (in hostels and B&B) ?

Hi, I've walked the WHW twice now, always staying in B&B's or bunkhouse. First time carried a ernomous rucksack from start to finish, 2nd time used the bag service, 35 pounds I think it cost! The best money spent ever!! Excuse my directness but if I'm staying in a B&B with a shower I would l...

Re: Worrying People

The world would be pretty crap place to live if we all kept to ourselves and blanked questions while out on the hills, I've always found walkers reasonably friendly and willing to offer advice. Suppose it comes down to "will I listen or not" While I'm not the most experienced walker I woul...

Re: Stuchd an Lochain - a great winter Munro

Hi, I passed you both just as you came across the hill from the road, had balaclava on on, noticed a car with a walkhighlands sticker on back window and wondered if I'd see a report. I'm in awe of you un-gloving to take so many pictures! My hands stayed firmly in my gloves. Had a quick bite to eat a...

Re: Garmin montana 600

Hi Gary,

I don't try and view it, just save to a folder on your laptop. Plug your gps in and let it automatically open, search folders for gpx folder and drag and drop route from laptop into your gps.

Re: If dogs could fly!

I imagine it's something like "here he goes again putting me in a rucksack and jumping off a perfectly good stable piece of rock" ....... Not a dog owner myself nowadays but have to say that the wee dog does not have much of a choice! He's going and that's it. Would need to see its reactio...

Re: How windy is too windy?

Have to agree its probably a personal choice that most people make for themselves, I did the White Mounth circuit yesterday and did the 3 above the Glenshee ski centre this morning on the way back to Glasgow. As you can guess it was windy but I would have not described it as too windy. Would have pr...

Re: Injuries on hill

Thanks all, and yes I did mean injuries to yourself, unless of course your able to respond from wherever you believe you end up when you die. Thanks for advice re treating gash, the white tape worked well to stem the blood to a fashion but I must have got dirt in wound as infection set in. I also ca...
