by kenny stewart on Tue Apr 20, 2010 2:36 pm Hi Blue Bear, I believe your boots you are using don't have a rating and are classed as a 2/3 season boot. therefore your boot would be to flexible for a crampon you have just enlightnened me to a strange thing thta happened recently. I had been using my...

Re: A neck full of pine needles on Beinn a' Bheithir

I didn't encounter the quarry but I certainly found the little track up the side of the waterfall and through the pine trees. They are a pain. But then the view from the top or even the bealach is wonderful on a clear day - especially the Paps of Jura. Mist came down after completing Dearg, couldn't...

Re: All New "Where's the Pic?" for 2010

Blimey - you mean I've won. I think at this stage I better pass the next go to you again Fingeez. Reason being I have just spent 2 weeks labelling about 2200 photos of my travels. If I upload a "mystery" photo then I suspect the file name would appear would appear below it and give the ans...

Re: All New "Where's the Pic?" for 2010

Is it taken from the road between Achmelvich and Clachtoll, west of Lochinver? I know the 2 big lumps - having been up the one on the right. But before I proffer the names of C***** and S*******, thought I would check you don't mean the teensy bumps at the left of the pic which are probably Ben More...

Re: Well Chuffed on Islay

What rotten luck eh! Your B & B served a fry up and in the opening paragraph you say you had gone all that way to spy some cornflakes....or ...did I read that wrong?

Re: All New "Where's the Pic?" for 2010

I go woth that too. You can just see the Cluanie Inn with its West End Prices up the end and a remnant of the Glenshiel Forest on the slope of Am Batach - I was labelling about 200 photos of this area yesterday so have that wee bit of forest ingrained in my sub conscious. Was it taken from Beinne Lo...

Re: Does a Flat walk count? Clyde Walkway

Sorry I couldn't respond earlier. I can never remember my password to log in from the Work computer. Your work as a ranger for SWT sounds like a prime job, allansmitchell. (after perhaps the 2 guys who go up and down on the mini railway at Valley International Park all day)Though I suppose I am imag...

Does a Flat walk count? Clyde Walkway

So do flat walks count for a WalkHighlands walk report? Well I only ask. You see, I love my mountains. Oh yes I do. It’s for the photos you see. I am not one of these types who read Trail mag and pretend that they enjoyed an “exhilarating” knife edge ridge or a “brilliant” Grade 1 scramble (for the ...

Re: Valentine's Weekend in Glencoe...Love is a Battlefield

Well Walk Aboot, what an entertaining read and a fine trip report. One of my friends went walking out by the Blackwater Dam on Saturday - if he saw the Eagle flying from right to left does that mean his luck was out. Given the frasgility of his ticker it could well have been if he had seen your pal ...
